Amy C. Ford

Amy C. Ford, age 88, of Johnsonburg, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Mt. Laurel Nursing Home in Clearfield after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 23, 1924 in Arroyo, daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Laura (Sarvey) Shaffer.
She was married to Jordan Ford; he preceded her in death in July 1995.
A Protestant by faith, she lived most of her life in Johnsonburg and worked at St. Marys Hospital Pharmacy for many years.

Rose G. Newell

Rose G. Newell, 90, of Raleigh, N.C. and formerly of St. Marys, died on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.
She was born May 8, 1922 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Eckert Buerk.
On Sept. 30, 1947 in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Mack L. Newell , who preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2007 after nearly 60 years of marriage.

Irvin Mattivi

Irvin Mattivi, 83, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Agostino Mattivi of Kersey, died quietly at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1929. Upon returning from the Korean War, he married the love of his life, Geraldine C. (Jean) Mattivi on June 20, 1953, and raised their four daughters in Raleigh, N.C. They have eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He retired from IBM in 1995. He stayed active in his church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and with the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving example to his family and friends, and to all.

Neil C. Shade Sr.

Neil C. Shade Sr., 85, of Cherry Hill Road, Albion, died early Thursday morning, March 14, 2013 at St. Marys Home of Erie.
He was born Oct. 23, 1927 in Erie, a son of the late Earl L. Shade and Catherine Johnson. He was married to Joan M. Carlin Shade on Sept. 6, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2002.

Donald R. DeVallance

Donald R. DeVallance, 88, of 1475 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 14, 1925 in Brockwayville, son of the late Norman Lane and Altha Venice (Dillon) DeVallance.
He married Rhea M. Smith on Feb. 17, 1947, and she survives.
He had resided in Ridgway since 1930 and was a former Brockway resident. He was a member of the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene and the NRA.

James Elroy Morean

James Elroy Morean, 88, of Erie Ave., St. Marys, departed the earthly realm on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. 
He was born on Nov. 18, 1924, to the late Adelbert and Lina Lockwood Morean, who were from Austin. 
On May 15, 1948 he married Betty Huston Morean, who survives. 

Gregory Lee Jackson

Gregory Lee Jackson, 40, of Bradford, died March 10, 2013, after a short battle with cancer.
He is survived by his father, Larry Terwilliger (Diane Northrop); four children, Gabriella, Justin, Kimberly and Karissa; two grandchildren, Camdin and Cheyenne; two sisters, Beverly Terwilliger (Raymond Neureiter) and Rebecca (Tor) Swanson; one brother, Steven Terwilliger (Crystal Carey); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clem G. Jackson; and his mother, Wendy Sue Jackson Terwilliger.

Margaret “Marge” Schaberl Forster

Margaret “Marge” Schaberl Forster, 99, a recent resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 979 Johnsonburg Rd., died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the nursing home. 
She was born on Nov. 26, 1913 in Daguscahonda in a boarding house run by her mother, Gertrude Schaberl. 
On Oct. 10, 1935, she married the late Henry "Hank" Forster in St. Mary's Church, where they celebrated four very special anniversaries. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2002 after nearly 67 years of marriage.

Doris B. Hunger

Doris B. Hunger, 82, of Punxsutawney, died peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
She was born July 25, 1930 in Summerville, the daughter of the late Donald and Sarah (Wayland) Burns. She was married to John B. Hunger Jr., who preceded her in death on July 20, 2002.
Mrs. Hunger and her husband owned and operated Hunger's Office Supply in Punxsutawney and the Hunger's Hallmark at the Groundhog Plaza.

Mary Lou Knapp DiNardo

Mary Lou Knapp DiNardo, 80, of 424 Water Street Extension, Johnsonburg, died early Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born on May 7, 1932 in Johnstown, daughter of the late LaRue and Mildred Hunter Knapp.
She had been married to John Murphy II and the late George DiNardo.
