Cheryl M. Herzing, 57, of 111 Polk Ave., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Jan. 31, 2014 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Feb. 16, 1956 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Robert G. and Joyce M. (Wehler) Vogt Sr. She married Daniel F. Herzing Jr. on Aug. 19, 1983.
She had resided in Ridgway since 1981 and was a former St. Marys resident. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, the C.D. of A., a past St. Leo's Bingo Chairman, the Ridgway Little League, the Rocket Cheerleaders and the RAHS Gymnastics Boosters, and was also the caretaker of Yolonda Jeselinick.
Sylvia J. Feldbauer, 70, of 317 Braun Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 28, 1943 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Luke and Sara Jane Miles Schaberl.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961. She was also a 1963 graduate of Ogden Nursing School in Elymira, N.Y., and a 1981 graduate of Syracuse University.
On Nov. 7, 1964 in the Queen of the World Church, she married Paul J. Feldbauer, who survives.
Helene â€śDeDeeâ€ť Maholtz, 65, Bennetts Valley Highway, Weedville, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
She was June 22, 1948 in Weedville, daughter of the late Geno DeCarli and Helen (Wadding) DeCarli, of Weedville, who survives.
On April 7, 1990, she married Philip â€śKennyâ€ť Maholtz, who survives.
She was a graduate of St. Marys High School and the Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology in DuBois.
She was owner/operator of DeDeeâ€™s Hair Shop in Weedville.
Edith Marie DeStefano, 94, of Savoy, Ill., formerly of Williamsport, died at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at Carle Hospital, Urbana. She was surrounded by her family and devoted caregivers.
Edith was born Feb. 25, 1919 in Kersey daughter of Benjaminio and Erminia Morelli Carlini. She married John Angelo DeStefano on Nov. 25, 1948 in Ridgway.
Dr. Dodie (Dolores) Fleming Meier died on Jan. 28, 2014 after a battle with Alzheimerâ€™s disease.
She completed her undergraduate work in education at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in counseling psychology at New Mexico State University. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary society and the American Psychological Association. She was named to Whoâ€™s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Dodie served as a clinical therapist and counselor as well as an associate professor.
James C. Copella Sr., 87, of 325 Dewey Circle, Ridgway, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor.
He was born Oct. 5, 1926 in Kersey, son of the late Edward C. and Bessie May Moyer Copella. He married his lifelong friend, Carol D. Keller, she survives.
Louis John Elia, 78, died on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 in Naples, Florida with his wife and daughter by his side following a long illness with Parkinsonâ€™s Disease.
He was born March 17, 1935 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Wanda Dukich and Raymond J. Blair Sr.Â His birth father Louis J. Elia Sr. died in 1944 in World War II, in Normandy, France, when he was 9.Â
Carl Bernard Anderson Sr., 81, of Peters Road, Brockport died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway.
Born Oct. 3, 1932 in Ringold, he was the son of the late Norman Charles and Wretha Young Anderson.
He was married on Feb. 8, 1953 to Betty Bundy. They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in a few weeks. He was a member of the Brandy Camp United Methodist Church. Carl enjoyed riding his bicycle, motorcycle and canoeing. He had been employed at Stackpole Carbon in St. Marys as a laborer before his retirement.
Helen M. Breindel, 88, of Silver Creek Terrace, and formerly of Maine and Florida, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born April 20, 1925, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Urban and Caroline Weinzierl Meyer.
She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1943.
On Aug. 17, 1946, in the St. Mary's Church, she married LaVern A. Breindel, and he survives.
Irene Coppede, 94, a resident of Elk Haven and a former resident of Ridgway, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Kersey, daughter of the late John and Dina Gavazzi Coppede.
She was a lifelong resident of the area, attended Kersey schools, and was a former employee of the Elks in Ridgway.
She was a member of St. Leo's Church, a member of the Ridgway Senior Center, and she loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed baking for them.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Coppede of Toby.
