Bernadine (Brown) Pane, 88, of Tyler, and recently of DuBois Nursing Home, died late Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born June 30, 1925 in Baumertown, daughter of the late John and Emma (Levenduski) Brown.
She married John Pane in 1946, he preceded her in death July 7, 1998.
She retired from Sylvania after 38 years. She enjoyed gardening and baking, and lived most of her life in Tyler.
She is survived by a son, Dennis (Miriam) Pane of Penfield; and two grandchildren.
Anthony A. "Tony" McGill, 68, of 384 Rightmeyer St., St. Marys, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys.
He was born Feb. 18, 1946 in St. Marys, a son of the late Aloysious McGill and the late Mary Piccolo McGill Reed.
On May 31, 1975, he married Marie Caggiano McGill, who survives.
Irene G. Covac, 93, of 116 Poplar Rd. and a resident of Elk Haven, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1921 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Joseph and Franciska Wiesneski Mackoviak. On Aug. 10, 1940, in the Holy Rosary Church, she married Albert L. Covac, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2011.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Holy Rosary School. Mrs. Covac was a member of the Queen of the World Church and enjoyed being with her family and spending time at her home.
Betty J. Bille, 95, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of Gypsy Road, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born April 15, 1919 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Ginther Largey. On Nov. 23, 1949, in the St. Mary's Church, she married Richard E. Bille, who preceded her in death on May 25, 1998.
Diane Glass, 75, of Farmville, Va., died Monday, April 14, 2014 following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 17, 1938 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alvin J. Luhr and Caroline Knouse Luhr.
She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1956.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Glass of Farmville, Va., and Mike Glass of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Marcia (Kevin) Huffman of Virginia Beach, Va.; one grandchild, Nick Glass; one brother, Jack Luhr of Newtown; two sisters, Mary Luhr of Lake Wales, Fla., and Katherine Luhr of New Brighton.
There will be no visitation.
Robert J. Rigard, 84, of 131 Beech Rd., St. Marys, died on Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway following a month-long illness.
He was born May 2, 1929 in St. Marys, a son of the late Charles and Beatrice Wingenbach Rigard.
Joan G. Verbka, 69, of 276 Coal Hollow Road, Kersey, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Penn Highlands Elk.
She was born July 24, 1944 in Anita, daughter of the late Matthew and Helen Anderson Gresock. On July 24, 1965 in the St. Josephâ€™s Church in Anita, she married Rudy Verbka who survives.
She was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School, Class of 1962 and had been a lifelong resident of the Kersey area. She served as the church secretary at St. Boniface Church for 30 years and still worked as a columnist for the local newspapers.
Dennis S. Parlavecchio, MD, 58, of East Arch Street in St. Marys, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk.
Born May 26, 1955 in DuBois, he was the son of Dominic J. and Marie L. (Laman) Parlavecchio. His mother survives.
He was a family practice medical doctor in the DuBois and St. Marys area for many years.
He is survived by a sister, Michelle Kownacki of Chula Vista, Calif.; a brother, James Parlavecchio of DuBois; and a sister, Lisa Salada of DuBois.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Per Dr. Parlavecchioâ€™s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
Melvin R. Hoffman, 70, of 415 Allenhurst Ave., Ridgway, died on April 19, 2014.
He was born on July 8, 1943 in St. Marys, son of the late Andrew and Margaret Eckert Hoffman. He was the loving husband and best friend to Gloria M. Roseto, who he married on Nov. 26, 1964 at St. Leo's Catholic Church where he was a member. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School.
Gladys F. Edinger, 81, of 155 Scotland St., Dagus Mines, and a resident of Elk Haven, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 26, 1932 in Dagus Mines, daughter of the late Norman and Sadie Dempsey Edinger. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Dagus Mines and Kersey schools. She worked at the Stackpole Corp. for 40 years and retired after its closure in 1988. She also worked as a beautician in her home for many years.
