Marie A. Schaut, 85, of Church Street, St. Marys, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility.
She was born Nov. 26, 1928 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Edward and Amanda (Wolf) Wolfel Sr. On July 31, 1948 in the St. Maryâ€™s Church, she married her high school sweetheart, Paul J. Schaut, who survives.
Grace M. Foster, 90, of 256 JT Lane, Wilcox, formerly of 219 Elk Ave., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday evening, June 3, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, following a short illness.
She was born Oct. 4, 1923 in Kane, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Schenaback Thayer.
On June 11, 1955 in St. Callistus Church, Kane, she married Maurice P. Foster. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1994.
She resided in Johnsonburg since her marriage in 1955 and attended Kane Area High School.
Michelle R. "Missy" Catalone, 47, of 122 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, died on Monday, June 2, 2014 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 30, 1966, a daughter of Rocco "Rocky" Catalone of Palmyra and Karen Anders Lenze of St. Marys.
Missy was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of SMAHS. She attended St. Agnes Church and had a great love for animals, especially her dog, Bailey. She loved music and her family, and always enjoyed spending time with them.
Mary H. Jacobs, 80, of 618 North Maple Ave., Ridgway, died Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 18, 1933 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Ben and Jennie (DeMucci) Marzella. She married William L. Jacobs on Feb. 12, 1955, and he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway all her life and was a 1953 graduate of St. Leo High School. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Mary had been employed by Stackpole Carbon, the St. Marys Bakery, Cronk's Flowers and Fox's Pizza in Ridgway.
JoAnn S. Gnan, 71, of 518 Hickory St., Ridgway, died early Sunday morning, June 1, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 24, 1943 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Emil F. and Nellie R. (Briggs) Streich.
She married Benjamin C. Gnan Jr. on Feb. 19, 1982, he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the American Legion Post #208. She was a 1961 graduate of Ridgway High School. She was a longtime employee of Alpha Sintered Metals, retiring in 2008.
Mary Virginia â€śGinnyâ€ť (Cochrane) Caldwell, 74, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Halifax Regional Medical in Roanoke Rapids after an illness of the past several months.
She was born in Clearfield on Sept. 7, 1939 to the late Harry and Mary (Shannon) Cochrane.
In 1947 the family moved to St. Mary where Ginny attended the Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from the St. Marys Central High School in 1957.
In 1958 she married Alfred Caldwell of Johnsonburg who preceded her in death.
Luke G. Zitzler, 83, died after lunch on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Elk Haven. He was a lifelong resident of Vine Road in St. Marys.
He was born July 12, 1930 in St. Marys, son of Joseph and Leona (Hallermeyer) Ziztler. He married Mary Grace Schlimm, who survives, on Aug. 21, 1954.
Jude R. Gleixner, 82, of 375 Krug Ln., died peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
Shirley Nachtway Krieg, 84 of Naples, Fla., died on May 22, 2014.
Born in St. Marys to the late Fred and Fidelis (Hoehn) Nachtway, Shirley was a proud graduate of St. Marys Catholic Central High School in 1947.
She was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church of Emporium, and St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church of Bonita Springs, Fla.
Shirley was also a florist and office manager, but her most cherished role was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
William J. Bankovic, 90, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Elk Haven after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 6, 1924 in St. Marys, son of the late Walter and Eva Frkonja Bankovic. He was married to Elaine Mains of Pittsburgh.
