John William Rickard, 78, of 391 Toby Rd., Kersey, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 7, 1936 in Fallen Timber, son of the late David John and Dorothy Black Rickard.
He attended Coalport schools and had been a resident of the area since 1970. He had worked as a coal miner, helped in the construction of the Kinzua Dam, and retired from Powdered Metal Products after 36 years of service.
In April 1962, he married Charlotte Lipsey, who preceded him in death on March 4, 1999.
Margie E. Liptak, 93, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown after a lengthy illness.
She was bornÂ in Walston, Jefferson County on March 16, 1921 to Steve and Anna (Fairman) Farcus.
Upon graduating from Saints Cosmas and Damian High School in Punxsutawney, Margie worked in the grocery business eventually becoming manager of stores in Punxsutawney and St. Marys. Later she joined Pure Carbon in St. Marys where she worked until retirement in 1991.
Frances Ann â€śPamâ€ť Yeager, 85, of 155 Russ Lane, St. Marys, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Penn Highlands Elk.
She was born Sept. 7, 1928 in Kersey, daughter of the late Francis and Veronica Steinlehner Pontzer. On Sept. 20, 1952 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Gilbert F. â€śGibâ€ť Yeager, who preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2013.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School. She was a retired employee of the former Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1989.
Thomas L. Pauline, 71, of 98 Mark Lane, Kersey, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born Oct. 17, 1942 in St. Marys, son of the late Leon and Marie McDaniels Pauline. On May 13, 1967, in the St. Joseph's Church in Force, he married Pamela M. Benigni, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1961. He was a retired employee of SGL, retiring in 2011 after 40 years of service.
Margaret N. Azzato, 89, of Weedville, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys.
She was born June 25, 1924, in Weedville, the daughter of the late John and Louise (Crocco) Azzato.
She was a graduate of Weedville High School. She worked 45 years at Stackpole Carbon and was also a poll worker during the primary and general elections in Weedville.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force and the American Legion Auxiliary in Weedville.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Azzato; one brother, Frank Azzato of Weedville; andÂ several nieces and nephews.
Celesta E. Thompson, 87, of 544 Church St., St. Marys, died on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Anthony and Frances Friedl Fritz.
On Jan. 14, 1956 in St. Mary's Church, she married Thomas A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1999.
Nancy R. Weis, 77, of 203 Dippold Ave. St. Marys, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 30, 1936 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the daughter of the late Grover and Christine Garvey Rodenbaugh.
She was a graduate of the Lewiston-Porter High School in Youngstown, N.Y. in 1954 and was a graduate of the Buffalo State College for Teachers in 1958. She was a retired teacher and had resided in St. Marys since 1961.
Thomas S. Bianco, 85, of Marlton, N.J., died Monday, June 9, 2014.
Born in 1929 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna Bianco. In 1958, he married Fran nee Ragone, who survives.
A former Johnsonburg resident, he was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1947, and was a well-accomplished player for the then Johnsonburg Shamrock football team.
Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War with Patrol Bomber Squadron VP 34 and aboard the USS Coral Sea.
Robert G. "Elvie" Hayes, 55, of 230 George St., St. Marys, died on Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 12, 1958, a son of the late Gerald and Jane Spangler Hayes.
On Oct. 8, 1982 in Sacred Heart Church, he married Mary Nero Hayes, who survives.
Edwin L. Gray, 91, of Apple Street, Weedville, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born March 26, 1923 in Clarington, son of the late Roy L. and Rose (Swaney) Gray.
On Aug. 12, 1951, he married Beverly J. (Wonderling) Gray; she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1949. He was a die setter for Keystone Carbon for 43 years having retired in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion Post #948 in Weedville for 50 years. He lived all his life in Bennetts Valley.
