James M. Hoyt, 73, of 39738 State St. in Ridgway, died Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born July 30, 1941 in Jamestown, N.Y., son of the late John J. and Margaret (Taraska) Hoyt Sekelsky.
He married Beverly J. Pontious on June 19, 1965.
He had resided in Ridgway for the last 50 years, and he was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church and a past K of C member.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards and polka music.
He had served in the U.S. Navy, and he was a peacetime veteran.
Adda R. Lundy, 102, of Caledonia, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 11, 1912 in Caledonia, daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Hewitt) Tyler.
On Nov. 5, 1928, she married Leo T. Lundy who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1997.
She worked at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital for many years in the housekeeping department.
She was a member of the Caledonia Methodist Church, Bennetts Valley Senior Center and the Bennetts Valley Legion Auxiliary.
She lived all her life in Caledonia.
James R. Sexton, 87, of St. Marys and formerly of Weedville, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Benezette, son of the late Raymond and Cathleen (Von Riebnitz) Sexton. On July 19, 1947, he married Virginia â€śGalaâ€ť Crocco who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1998.
Born and raised in Benezette, he lived most of his life in Weedville and the past 12 years in St. Marys. He worked at Stackpole Carbon of St. Marys for 37 years. He was a Member of St. Joseph Church.
Dena L. Scott, 95, of Weedville, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015.
She was born Dec. 23, 1919 in Riva del Garda, Italy, and immigrated to the United States with her parents, Vittorio Silvio Betta and Antonia (Torboli) Betta, arriving on New Year's Day in 1930.
On Sept. 21, 1938, she married Massimo L. Scott, who preceded her in death May 14, 1983.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Church of Force, and the Bennetts Valley Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and working in her yard.
She lived most of her life in Bennetts Valley.
Carl O. Stranburg, 77, of Grove City, Ohio, and formerly of Warren, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 with his family present.
Carl was born Dec. 14, 1937, son of the late Carl J. (Jip) and Myrtle Bengston Stranburg. He was born and raised in Tiona.
He wasÂ employed by Struthers Wells until its closing, and also the Warren County Courthouse.
Carl was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Steelers fan. He loved his hunting camp on Six-Mile. Carl served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the American Legion Post 135 and the Sheffield VFW.
Doris A. Paar, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Doris was born Dec. 30, 1928 in Daguscahonda, daughter of Jacob and Ann (Bosnik) Paar.
After graduating from Central Catholic High School, she was employed by Stackpole Carbon Company in St. Marys until 1962. She then moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and retired from Civil Service at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
Doris was a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court 95, in St. Marys.
She is survived by brother, Anthony (Linda) Paar; and a sister, Patricia Eckert.
Cloy O. Rhines, 84, of 110 Lecker Rd., St. Marys, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at his home.
He was born June 12, 1930 in Hallton, a son of the late Ralph and Frances Simmerline Rhines.
He married Beverly Bankovic Rhines at Queen of the World Church, she survives.
Ardith Pauline (Trumbull) Johnson, 89, of Toby, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 in Greensburg where she had relocated to be closer to her son Doug following a debilitating illness.
Ardith was born May 26, 1925 in Brandy Camp, daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth (Jefferson) Trumbull.
Helen M. Bauer, 87, of 461 Main St., Kersey, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Penn Highlands Elk after a brief illness.
She was born April 4, 1927 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Maurice and Sadie Rigard Gillen. On Oct. 11, 1944 in the St. Maryâ€™s Church, she married Donald W. Bauer, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. She was a former employee of Pure Carbon Company.
Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Queen of the World Church.
Bonnie Morrison Siple, 81, of Clayplant Road, Brockway, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after an unexpected illness.
Bonnie was born on Valentineâ€™s Day of 1933 to Charles and Effie Morrison, also of Brockway, who preceded her in death.
She was married to Glenn Douglas Siple for 58 years. Together they raised their daughter, Bonnie Jo Siple [Renee], of Cranberry Township, and Marshall Douglas Siple [Leanne] of DuBois. She was the proud grandmother of Zachary Jonathan and Douglas Geer whom she treasured spending time with.
