John A. Schwabenbauer, 93, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, and formerly of 615 Sherry Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 31, 1918, in St. Marys, son of the late Walter H. and Gertrude C. Wickett.
On May 22, 1946, in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey, he married Adeline D. Mosier who preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2010.
Victor C. "Wedow" Aiello, 90, of 301 Fairview Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday evening, Jan. 12, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1921 to Italian immigrants, the late Gennaro and Frances Chirillo Aiello.
He married Vittoria I. Bevacqua on Oct. 18, 1951 in Welland, Ontario, Canada, and she survives
James T. "Perch" O'Connell, 58, of 225 Fairies St., Wilcox died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 21, 1953 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Daniel and Dorothy Heglen O'Connell.
On Sept. 11, 1976, in the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, he married Debra "Debbie" Stanley, who survives.
Arnold L. â€śArnieâ€ť Trayer, 59, of Caledonia Rd., Weedville, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at DRMC West after a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born July 3, 1952 in Punxsutawney, the son of the late M. LeRoy and Gertrude (Fetterman) Trayer.
On June 3, 1972, he married Betty J. Nunamaker Trayer, who survives.
He lived all his life in Bennetts Valley. He graduated from St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1970. He worked 40 years at the same manufacturing plant in St. Marys, which carried many names, including Airco Speer, Airco Carbon, and CG Graphite.
Alice P. Garver of 208 Zambori St., Reynoldsville, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at Christ The King Manor in DuBois.
Garver was born on Feb. 22, 1934 in Allans Mills, daughter of the late William D. Stauffer and Mary C. Barnett Stauffer.
She married Arnold W. Garver, who preceded her in death on June 13, 2003.
She retired as an employee of Munot Plastics of Erie after 10 years of service. She was a member of Roseville Independent Chapel in Brookville.
Larry D. Knisely, 64, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Penfield, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at DRMC after a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 3, 1947 in Renovo, son of the late Elmer Belden and Bernice Knisely.
On June 5, 1970, he married Diana (Caliari) Knisely, who survives.
He served in the Army from 1966 to 1968, receiving the National Defense and Good Conduct Medals. He also worked for five years as Foreman and hyster driver for Metal Wire of Driftwood; three years with Brockway Clay; and 29 years with Carbide Graphite of St. Marys; Falcon Transport, CJ Packing and Catalone Pipe Supply.Â
John A. Fedus, 79, of 7965 Laurel Mill Rd., Ridgway, died Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born May 15, 1932, in Johnsonburg, son of the late Charles and Anna (Bedner) Fedus.
On Sept. 29, 1956, he married Edith T. Strauss, who survives.
He had resided in Ridgway for the last 55 years and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post #208. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
Eileen J. "Cissy" Wortman, 94, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys, and formerly of 179 E. 4th Street, Emporium,
died on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 28, 1917 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Gervase and Kathryn Stockman Rigard.
She was married to the late Regis "Wheatie" Wortman, who preceded her in death in January 2000.
Leo F. Greenthaner, 88, a resident of Silver Creek Terrace, St. Marys, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Jan. 6, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Cadogan, son of the late Fred and Mary Kurzinger Greenthaner.
On September 11, 1958 in Emporium, he married Alice Louise McMaster, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2010.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended New Bethlehem schools. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Corp., retiring in 1986 after 38 years of service.
Betty M. Wonderly, 75, of 938 Troup Valley Hill Rd., Mount Pleasant Mills, and formerly of Kersey, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Feb. 17, 1936 in Kersey, a daughter of the late Irwin Sylvester and Madeline Minnick Wonderly.
Betty spent many years caring for and kenneling dogs, and had a great love for her dog, Dee Dee.Â She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed coming home to spend Christmas with them ever year.Â She also enjoyed shopping and crafts.
