Alice M. Johnson, 83, of 300 Russ Lane, St. Marys, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 31, 1929, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose Fritz Lechner.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
On Feb. 18, 1950, in the St. Mary's Church, she married Clifford W. "Skip" Johnson, who survives.
Alice was a member of the St. Mary's Church. She was a housewife who took pride in keeping an impeccable home for her family.
Emma Scarano Hau, 89, of 603 North West St., Coudersport, died Saturday night, Sept. 22, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine Cerro Scarano.
On July 10, 1953 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, she married William J. Hau, who preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2007.
Formerly of Johnsonburg, she resided in Coudersport for the past three years. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1941, graduated from Villa Maria College in Erie, and attended Temple University in Philadelphia.
Virginia A. Galdini, 50, of 213 Old Kane Rd., Wilcox, died Thursday morning, Sept. 20, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 13, 1961 in Kane, daughter of the late Richard and Shirley Polinski Disque. She married Reynold "Reno" Galdini on Sept. 11, 1982 in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg; he survives.
Pauline H. (Punky) Dilley, 25, of 331 First Ave., Johnsonburg, died on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 in Clearfield, due to a two-car automobile accident there.
She was born on July 31, 1987 in St. Marys, the daughter of Pauline Stahli Dilley and the late Earl O. Dilley.
She resided in Johnsonburg all of her life. She attended Johnsonburg Area High School and received her GED.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and a full-time mother.
Harold A. "Rudy" Simbeck, 80, of 177 Wehler Rd., St. Marys, died on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012Â following a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 15, 1931 in St. Marys, a son of the late Charles and Estella Galmish Goodrow Simbeck. On July 24, 1954 in St. Mary's Church, he married the late Rita Mae Wendel, who preceded him in death on June 15, 2004.
Christine H. Brem, 89, a resident of the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois and formerly of the Elk Towers and Grandview Road, St. Marys, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Daguschonda, daughter of the late John and Frances Knouse Meholic. On May 29, 1947, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married George J. "Jingles" Brem, who he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1995.
John F. Smith, 63, of 161 Ford Rd., St. Marys, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 27, 1948 in St. Marys, son of the late William and Jane Krug Smith.
On Sept. 19, 1970 in Rasselas, he married Louise E. Olewinski, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1966. He was an employee of the former Pure Carbon and retired from Morgan AM&T in 2011 after 47 years of service.
Melvin M. Bonfardin, 75, of Mayport, died Saturday evening, Sept. 15, 2012 at home.
Born March 4, 1937, in Benezette, son of the late Joseph and Hazel Hartman Bonfardin.
On June 24, 2006, in Mayport, he married Luella Brocious, who survives.
Mr. Bonfardin was employed as a gas meter specialist for CNG Transmission until he retired in 1994. Melvin enjoyed time at camp, hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Richard L. Frederick, 64, of Hector, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. Â
He was born June 1, 1948, in Ridgway, son of the late John and Alma (Yonkie) Frederick.
On Sept. 29, 1995, in St. Marys, he married Cathy (Mosier) Frederick, his loving wife of almost 17 years.
Dick lived in the Ridgway and Kersey areas until he moved to Hector in 1999.Â He worked as a mechanic, truck driver and equipment operator for Doyle Vineyard Management in Hammondsport. He loved hunting, fishing and racing.Â
Jerome Joseph Rigard, 87, of Rustburg, Va., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012.
He was born May 11, 1925 in St. Marys, son of the late Michael and Thersia Gschwendtner Rigard.
For 36 years, he was the husband of Thursie S. Rigard, and the former husband of the late Amelia Cortinouis Rigard.
He served in World War II as a Gunner in the U.S. Air Force. He was with the 417th Bomb Gr. 675 Bomb Squadron with the 5th Air Force, serving in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the Air Force Gunners Assoc., the American Legion, the V.F.W., and St. Boniface Church in Kersey.
