Richard L. Carrara, 76, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born in Coal Hollow on March 31, 1936, a son of the late Joseph and Inez Contrini Carrara.
Residing in Fairview, Richard owned Carrara Steel & Carrara Steel Erectors, Amthor Steel, Serafiniâ€™s Restaurant, the Inn at Presque Isle and Sparkling Ponds Winery. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church.
George M. Uhl, 83, of 718 Uhl Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday evening, April 10, 2012, at the UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie after a brief illness.
He was born June 18, 1928, in St. Marys, son of the late John T. and Edna Schaberl Uhl. On April 30, 1955, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Marie T. Wilhelm, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 1995.
He was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor with Feldbauer & Uhl, Inc.
David A. Sharp, 88, of Clearfield, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home, which he made with his sister Catherine Coder of Clearfield.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1923, in Brush Run, Clarion County, son of the late Harry W. and Alverta Macinch Sharp.
He was employed as a coal miner, and was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Clearfield. He was also a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post #1785.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Amer V. Haight, 92, of 123 Swede St., Dagus Mines, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Pinecrest Manor after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Emlenton, son of the late Joseph Curtis and Ozzie Silvis Haight. On Jan. 25, 1946, in Miola, he married Violet R. Allshouse, who survives.
He had been a resident of the area since 1951. He attended Elder Township School and was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1972 after 27 years of service.
Robert J. "R.J." Schreiber Sr., 82, of 360 Main St., Kersey, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born July 16, 1929, in Kersey, son of the late Karl and Gertrude Pontzer Schreiber.
On Oct. 28, 1950, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Helen Welz, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 1978. On Oct. 21, 1993, in Wilcox, he married Margaret (Maggie) Shields McCoy, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2011. They were married by Fr. Norbert Wolf.
Cynthia Ann Neal, 63, of St. Marys died Sunday, April 8, 2012 in the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois.
She was born Jan. 28, 1949 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late John Roger and the late Shirley Mae Yeager Duke. On Feb. 15, 1975, in Kane, she married Robert D. Neal, who survives.
Mrs. Neal was a graduate of North Tonawanda, N.Y. schools and was a homemaker tending to the needs of her family.
Earl E. Robertson Jr., 88, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of Ridgway and Bethel Park, Pa., died on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 27, 1924 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Earl E. and Martha G. Holiday Robertson Sr.
On March 17, 1948 in Pittsburgh, he married the late Victorine Walter Robertson, who preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2010.
Audrey E. Dwyer, age 90, of Penn Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 24, 1921 in Kane, daughter of the late Edward and Frances (Wold) Kranking. She married Daniel A. Dwyer on June 27, 1953; he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1994.
A 1939 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, she worked at Indiantown Gap military base during WWII and also worked many years with the Ubel Fashion Shop, Furniture Store and Funeral Home.
Janice J. Casolo, 76, of 502 Dewey St., Ridgway, died, Wednesday, April 5, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Ridgway, the daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Wilson Papa. She married Joseph M. Casolo, who predeceased her on Jan. 24, 2005.
Mrs. Casolo was a lifelong Ridgway resident. She was a member of St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Ridgway Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired from Quality Components after 38 years of service.
Alvin L. Hoffman, 79, of 628 S. Michael St., St. Marys, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor following an illness of the past several months.
He was born Aug. 3, 1932, in St. Marys, son of the late Anthony and Marie Sporner Hoffman.
On July 20, 1957, in Brookville, he married Anna M. Allegretto, who survives.
Mr. Hoffman was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was a retired employee of Carbone of America, retiring in 1995.
