John E. "Ed" Neureiter, 87, of 439 Main St., Kersey, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 12, 1926 in Kersey, son of the late Raymond and Bertha Gahr Neureiter.
On May 23, 1953, in the St. Marys Church, he married Maudie Brennan who survives.
Mary Ann Micale, 90, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 24634 Bennets Valley Highway, Weedville, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 17 1923 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Fledderman Haberberger. On Oct. 25, 1946, in the St. Mary's Church, she married William J. "Dude" Micale, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2005.
Mrs. Micale was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Catholic schools. She was a member of the St. Boniface Church.
Jesse Robert DeNio, 36, of Vine Road, St. Marys, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born October 22, 1977 in St. Marys, son of the late Karl J. â€śQuickâ€ť DeNio and Susan J. Tornatore Strandberg, who survives of St. Marys.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1997.
Jesse loved to play guitar and enjoyed his motorcycle, four-wheeler, cars, and anything fast.
Joan L. Hoyt Gilmore, 75, of 80 Oak St., Wilcox died on December 16, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital following a brief illness
She was born on September 13, 1938 in Johnsonburg, daughter of Paul "Buck" and Edna Martinez Williams Stewart.
She married Joseph R. Gilmore on February 14, 1970 in the Wilcox Lutheran Church. He died July 9, 2007.
Alberta M. "Birdie" Hoffman, 95, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 1032 S. Michael Rd., died on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
She was born Apr. 25, 1918 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Krieg Emmert.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Parochial Schools.
On Oct. 29, 1936, in the St. Marys Church, she married Wilfred J. "Biff" Hoffman, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1982.
Charles W. Stephenson, 80, of 807 Allegheny Ave. Oil City, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born Dec. 25, 1932 in Sharon, he was the son of the late George W. Stephenson and I. Marie Henshaw Stephenson.
He graduated from Ridgway High School. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a Corporal serving from March 26, 1953 until March 23, 1955 and had received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Roger Francis Mann, â€śPickle,â€ť 73, of Second Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at home after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 2, 1940 in Ridgway, son of Marlin Francis Mann, deceased, and Vada (Kolonski) Mann, who survives.
On Feb. 22, 1960, he married Catherine Noreen (Glover), who survives.
He worked with many local companies, including Keystone Carbon, Johnsonburg Builders Supply, Johnsonburg Paper Mill, Paper City Transfer, Kwik Fill, and at one time was co-owner of The Cabaret, currently known as the Kopper Kettle.
Helen R. Goetz, 93, of 548 E. Kaul Ave., St. Marys, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1920 in North Fork, daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia Novosel Skok.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools and Sacred Heart School. She was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company.
On Aug. 17, 1946, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Richard J. Goetz, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1993.
Joann M. Eckert, 81, of 161 Teaberry Rd., St. Marys, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at the Life Care Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Shawmut, daughter of the late John and Alice Keller Carr. On October 30, 1954, in the St. Mary's Church, she married Arthur A. Eckert, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 1994.
Mrs. Eckert was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School. She was a retired employee of the Keystone Powdered Metal Co., retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church.
Virginia M. Hartland, 96, of Ridgmont Assisted Living, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at her residence.
She was born June 3, 1917 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Harry and Flora Rogers Kirk.
She married Merlin Hartland, who predeceased her on May 2, 2000.
Mrs. Hartland resided in Ridgway all of her life. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was in the choir for 54 years. She was a sales clerk at Cliffe's for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and playing the organ.
