Arlene M. Samick

Arlene M. Samick, 81, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of 1220 E. Eschbach Rd., St. Marys, died on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
She was born on May 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Conrad and Caroline Wilhelm Greenthaner.
On Oct. 17, 1959 in Sacred Heart Church, she married William J. Samick, who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2005.

Robert E. Hedberg

Robert E. Hedberg, 73, of 459 Main St.., Kersey, died suddenly on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his home.
He was born on March 19, 1941, a son of the late John and Evadna Ninnis Hedberg.
Bob was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Boniface Church. He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after many years of service. He was a member of the Fox Township Fire Department and the Dagus Mines Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding.

James L. Urbancic

James L. Urbancic, 75, of 202 Badeau Rd., Kersey, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
He was born May 8, 1939 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Albert L. and Margaret E. Allinger Urbancic. On June 16, 1966 in Kersey, he married Mary Jane Johnson, who preceded him in death on May 24, 2011.
Mr. Urbancic was a graduate of St. Marys High School and attended Penn State University. He was a retired employee of Metaldyne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

James E. “Jim” Weis

James E. “Jim” Weis, 86, of Rockford, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at the apropos time of “5 o’clock”, at home in the arms of his children.  
He was born Aug. 27, 1927, in St. Marys, the son of Leander “Lee” and Marian (Ryan) Weis.
His family’s legacy was that of restaurants, fine food, and entertaining, and he never met anyone who wasn’t welcome at his table. He met the love of his life, Helene Ann Shuster, at St. Marys High School in 1942. They were married when he returned from the Navy on Aug. 23, 1947.

John J. "Jay" Lynch

John J. "Jay" Lynch, 48, of Dover Township, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at his residence after a courageous eight-month battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 26, 1965, in York, a son of Patrick E. and Mari-Louise (Papp) Lynch of Dover and Gardners, he was a 1983 graduate of York Catholic. He had worked as a bartender for Shiloh American Legion Post #791 for 17 years, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Stoneybrook Camp, in Elk County, and Dover Camp, in Perry County.

Kathleen A. Jacobs

Kathleen A. Jacobs, 61, 275 West Center St., Johnsonburg, died peacefully Wednesday night, May 14, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1952 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Jerome F. "Pat" and Genevieve Quagliani Kastner.
On Sept. 22, 1978, she married Robert E. "Bob" Jacobs in St. Boniface Church, Kersey, and he survives.
She resided in Johnsonburg since her marriage.
She graduated from St. Marys Area High School in 1970 and graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology in DuBois.

Monica L. Piccolo

Monica L. Piccolo, 92, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of 404 Rightmeyer St., St. Marys, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Elk Haven after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 2, 1922 in St. Marys, daughter of the late A. Thomas and Catherine Kriegel Jacob. On Sept. 28, 1941, she married Joseph F. Piccolo, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2000.
Mrs. Piccolo was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and a member of the St. Anne's Society.

Oliver Ryan Wilson

Oliver Ryan Wilson, infant son of parents Kaylin Wilson and Kenneth Doran of Kersey, died at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
He was born on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 8:40 p.m., at the Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. He weighed 2 pounds, 3 ounces and was 14 inches long. Oliver had been surrounded by his family’s love for 31 hours. His maternal grandparents are Cole and Sherri Wilson of Kersey. His paternal grandparents are Kenneth Doran, of Waterford, Mich. and Suzie Doran of Bradenton, Fla.
