Edward P. Eukon, 72, of 938 North Broad St., Ridgway, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born April 4, 1939 in Ridgway, the son of the late John and Kathryn Eukon.
He married Barbara M. McAlee, who predeceased him on Sept. 25, 2009.
Mr. Eukon resided in Ridgway all of his life. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He was the meat manager at the Market Basket and he also worked at Carbide Graphite as a security guard. He enjoyed painting crafts for his grandchildren.
Michael P. Vollmer, 66, of 548 Fernwood Road, Houtzdale, and formerly of St. Marys died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
He was born June 3, 1945 in St. Marys, a son of the late Thomas and Kathryn Vollmer.
He was married to the late Dolores Vollmer.
Rita V. Weaver, 70, of Blacksburg, Va., died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Hospital.Â
James B. Marshall, 87, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Lock Haven, the son of the late Frank and Shirley N. Vierrier Marshall. He was a loving husband to Lucille Hostetlar for 65 years; she survives. James was Methodist by faith. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. In the military, he had extensive culinary arts training. He had been employed at his family-owned Marshall Laboratory and at Ridgway Color and Chemical.
Mary E. Johnson, 94, of Hickory Street, Ridgway, died on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born February 16, 1918, in Cuneo, the daughter of the late Perry D. and Bertha Riley Clark. She married Arthur J. Johnson, who predeceased her on April 18, 1992. Mrs. Johnson had resided most of her life in Ridgway. She was a devoted, long-time member of the Ridgway Church of Christ. During the Korean Conflict, Mary worked at Stackpole Carbon Company, but the majority of her life was devoted to her family, whom she enjoyed very much. Her family will miss her dearly.
John George Hetrick, 85, of Caledonia, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at Christ the King Manor of DuBois.
He was born May 8, 1926 in Caledonia, son of the late Russell J. and Hilda L. (Johnson) Hetrick. He married Kathleen Wonderling, who predeceased him on Feb. 27, 2004.
Alice A. Ginther, 91, of 1767 Bucktail Rd., St. Marys, died on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 27, 1920 in Truman, a daughter of the late George and Anna Bates Filling.
On Oct. 28, 1944 in First United Methodist Church, she married Urban Ginther, who survives.
Alice graduated from Emporium High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She greatly enjoyed ï¬shing and picnicking in Hicks Run.Â She also enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Rose Marie Ginther, 85, of 301 Ford Rd., St. Marys, died peacefully at her home on Friday, March 16, 2012 surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 17, 1926 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Marco and Helen Delisimunovic Paropacic.
On Nov. 28, 1953, she married Gervase Ginther, who survives.
Barbara A. Meyer, 60, of 117 Grandview Rd., St. Marys, died at her home on Saturday, March 17, 2012 surrounded by her dear cousins and friends following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 17, 1951 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Leander "Gump" and Elizabeth "Betty" Geyer Meyer.
Barb was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the St. Mary's Church.Â She graduated from St. Marys Area High School and had worked at Stackpole for many years. She also worked at Metaldyne.Â She enjoyed trips to Salamanca, playing cards and spending time with her animals, especially her dog, Ghost.Â
Thomas C. Hansen, 74, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 following a brief illness.
He was born in Erie in 1938. He was employed by Motion Control Industries from 1969 to 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; one daughter, Cindy, her husband Ed, and their three children, Eddie, Emily, and Haley; a son, Gary and his wife Shannon (Strom) and their three children, Amberlin, Trevor, and Taylor; two sisters, Mary Lou and her husband Clarence of North East, Pa., and Linda and her husband Leslie of Erie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
