Betty E. Frank, 76, of 675 Montmorenci Ave., Ridgway, and formerly of 231 Spruce St., died peacefully Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2011, at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
She was born July 18, 1935, in Ridgway, daughter of the late James A. and Twelda E. (Gulnac) Richards. She was married to Edmund J. Frank, who preceded her in death in 2001.
Elda M. Romanic, 78, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Byrnedale, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Nelsonâ€™s Golden Years of DuBois, following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 20, 1932 in Coal Hollow, daughter of the late Renaldo and Angelina (Bianchi) Gornati.
She married Andrew Romanic Jr., who died in 2000.
She lived most of her life in Byrnedale, was a graduate of Kersey High School and was a housewife.
Sister Jean Marie Langevin, OSB, 93, of the St. Joseph Monastery, St. Marys, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born Oct. 10, 1917 in Ellenburg, N.Y., daughter of the late Paul and Augusta Patenaude Langevin.
Ariannah Nicole Nero Rairdan, of 602 Washington St., St. Marys, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital following a three-month premature delivery.
She was born Aug. 17, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center, daughter of Patrick John Rairdan and Kayla Michelle Nero.
She struggled to survive for eight days, and for those eight days she was survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and paternal and maternal grandparents and great -grandparents, as well as friends of both families.
Edith F. Mrofchinski, 90, of 403 Valley View Ave., and formerly of 102 Evergreen Dr., Ridgway, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, August 30, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born June 4, 1921 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Jefferson P. and Emma (Dallenbach) Oertly.
She married Andy (Ezoc) Mrofchinski on Feb. 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1997.
Merle W. "Bus" Liggitt, 86, of Zelienople, formerly of McDonald and St. Marys, died Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.
He was born October 14, 1924, in Rennerdale, son of the late Mueirl William and Amanda (Walton) Liggitt.
He was a truck driver/owner. He was also a single-engine private pilot, enjoyed playing the steel guitar and was a fan of Archer II. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and former member of the Washington Nazarene Church.
Henry W. Smith, 84, of 1393 Million Dollar Hwy., Kersey, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1927, in Brandy Camp, the son of the late Walter and Mary Hollabugh Smith. He married Lillian G. Reisinger, who predeceased him on January 15, 2005.
Angeline R. Sidoni, 81, of 49 Meadowbrook Rd., Ridgway, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 19, 1929 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late John and Daisy (Manno) Calla.
She married Thomas D. Sidoni on November 3, 1951. He survives.
She had resided in Ridgway since 1952 and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and was active in the Cursillo movement.
She devoted her life to her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and had previously cooked at Elk County Catholic High School and for the Office of the Aging.
Robert E. Landis, 90, of 705 Center St., St. Marys, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor after an illness of the past several months.
He was born March 23, 1921, in St. Marys, son of the late Walter and Larua Hathorn Landis.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1938. He was retired from the Keystone Carbon Co. as a tool and die maker, having retired after 47 years of service.
On Nov. 22, 1945, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Francis Drake, who preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2002.
Andrew (Andy) Kaul IV, 78, of Das Zip Haus, St Marys, a Big Ten wrestling champion and electronics industry pioneer, died Friday, August 26, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 10, 1932, in St. Marys, the son of the late Andrew Kaul III and Libby Morrow Kaul.
On October 24, 1959, at the Sacred Heart Church, he married Margaret Imboden, who survives.
Andy was a 1951 graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa., where he was introduced to the sport of wrestling. He was a three-time national prep wrestling champion while at The Hill School.
