Joyce M. Beaver, 82, of 512 Fourth Ave., Johnsonburg, died on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Kane Community Hospital in Kane following a brief illness.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1930 in Johnsonburg, daughter of Joseph and Frances Chiesa Marasco.
She married Richard S. "Dick" Beaver on May 5, 1951 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He died on May 23, 2005.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1948.
John F. "Jack" Ritter, 80, of 125 Mark St., St. Marys, died on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born July 23, 1931 in St. Marys, a son of the late Thomas and Agnes Lynch Ritter.
On Feb. 24, 1962 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Joan Gapinski Ritter, who survives.
Mr. Ritter was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Sacred Heart Church.Â He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received during the war.
Richard J. "Dick" Feidler Sr., 85, a resident of the DuBois Nursing Home and formerly of 1188 Million Dollar Highway, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home following an illness of the past several months.
He was born Nov. 25, 1926, in St. Marys, son of the late Chauncey and Theresa Schafeman Feidler. On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Mary Verna Tyler. She preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1988. On May 2, 1992, in the Byrnedale Church, he married Betty Rohrbach of DuBois, who survives.
Thomas F. â€śGrouchoâ€ť Cribbs, 79, of 133 South St., Ridgway, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
He was born Sept. 22, 1932 in Penfield, the son of the late Thomas E. and Rachel Bilodeau Cribbs. On June 28, 1953, he married Edna H. Merritt, who survives. They had been married for 58 years.
Richard J. "Dick" Feidler, 85, a resident of DuBois Nursing Home and formerly of 1188 Million Dollar Highway, Kersey, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.
Ruth E. DeSalve, 95, of DeSalve Road, Penfield, died at home late Thursday, March 8, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 7, 1917 in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Ramback) Aures. On July 1, 1936, she married William DeSalve, who preceded her in death March 9, 2008. Â
She is survived by three children, Joyce (Francis E.) Klaiber and Judy (Jerry) Smart, both of Penfield, and by Terry DeSalve of DuBois; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Carolyn A. Musante, formerly of Warren, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in Gerry, N.Y.
Carolyn was born in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Phillip and Barbara (Max) Minnick. Though a graduate of St. Marys High School and employed at Sylvania in Emporium, Carolyn lived in Warren most of her life.
John L. Brendlinger, 78, of 764 Shelvey Summit Rd., Kersey, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital in Beaver following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Clyde, son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Boring) Brendlinger. He married Martha M. Blessel Wonderly on Nov. 17, 1979. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2011.
He was a member of Maria Lutheran Church in Dagus Mines and a member of the Bells of St. Marys and the Ridgway Sportsmen's Club. He had been employed by Exotic Metals and retired from Carbon City Products.
Phyllis F. Bauer, 80, a resident at Ridgmont Assisted Living, Ridgway, and formerly of 126 Penn Rd., St. Marys, died on Thursday morning, March 8, 2012 at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1931 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Marion and Leona Fritz Ford.
On June 21, 1952 in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Clarence "Lefty" Bauer, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2009.
Leon R. Swackhammer, 84, of Upper Cherry Road, Kersey, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at home after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 20, 1927 in Benezette, son of the late David & Mildred (English) Swackhammer.
On Sept. 13, 1952 he married Amelia Parisi, who survives.
He lived all his life in Elk County and enjoyed bowling and fishing. He worked at Airco Speer of St. Marys from 1955 until his retirement as General Foreman in 1989.
He was a veteran, having served in the Army during WWII.
