James A. Neubert Jr., 66, of Erie, formerly of St. Marys, died at his home on Tuesday, October 25, 2011.
Born in St. Marys on November 5, 1944, he was the son of the late James A. and Victoria Kornacki Neubert Sr.
He married Josephine "Josie" Martin Neubert, who preceded him in death in 2003.
He was a graduate of Tech High and served 33 years in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps with tours in Vietnam, Operation Enduring Freedom and the War on Terror until 2005.
He had worked at G.E. and as a cook at the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse and Independence Court.
Helen R. Adams, 90, of Mt. Pleasant Rd., Penfield, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a short illness.
She was born July 15, 1921 in Port Vue, Pa., daughter of the late John Francis and Helen (McKenna) Moore.
She married Louis Adams on October 9, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2006.
Edward A. "Sonny" Seelye Jr., 79, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, and formerly of 1044 S. Michael Road, died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born August 4, 1932 in St. Marys, a son of the late Edward and Mary Ann Caskey Seelye.
Thomas A. Herbstritt, 81, of 106 Catalina Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at his home following an illness of the past seven months.
He was born March 12, 1930 in St. Marys, son of the late Floyd C. and Catherine Cheatle Herbstritt. On Oct. 25, 1952, in Byrnedale, he married Mary J. Snelick, who survives.
Charles J. "Pooch" Cunningham, 68, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
Cunningham was born Dec. 2, 1942 in St. Marys, son of the late Charles and Angela Simbeck Cunningham.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1960. He was retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company, retiring in 2004 after 40 years of service.
Mildred M. "Nan" Salter, 72, of 113 E. Condot Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
She was born June 3, 1939 in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Mildred Aiello Asti.
On January 25, 1958, in Holy Rosary Church, she married the late James B. Salter, who preceded her in death on March 12, 2002.
Milfred H. Nelson, 86, of 201 Depot St., Ridgway, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, after a brief stay at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Ridgway, son of the late William B. and Grace E. (Gardner) Nelson. He married Betty J. Keneske on Feb. 7, 1945; she preceded him in death on May 31, 2009.
He had resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of the Ridgway Area High School. He had been employed by the Elliott Company and then by Motion Control Industries for 40 years.
Matilda K. "Tillie" DeWald, 96, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, formerly of Elk Towers and West Mill Street, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born February 19, 1915 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Sebastian and Margaret Deth Sorg.
On November 15, 1939 in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Joseph J. "Joker" DeWald, who preceded her in death on January 28, 1994.
John Gilbert Copella, 81, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., died Friday, September 23, 2011 of congestive heart failure at his home.
He was born on December 27, 1929 in Kersey, a son of the late John Francis Copella and Mary Gladys Copella (nee Buckley).
He married Dorothy Baines, who preceded him in death in 2006. They celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in August of that year.
Marina T. Agens, 86, of 101 N. Mill St., Ridgway, died Sunday, October 16, 2011, in the home of her sister, Beverly MacDonald, at 1533 Front St.
She was born January 30, 1925, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late R. Joseph and Lavina M. Ross Tettis. She married Donald J. Agens, who predeceased her on Februaury 16, 2001.
Mrs. Agens had resided most of her life in Ridgway. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the C.D. of A., and the Ridgway Senior Center.
