Ronald J. Salvetto, 56, formerly of 566 Rock St., Ridgway, died Saturday morning, July 9, 2011, at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 15, 1955 in DuBois, son of Pauline A. Salvetto and the late James J. Salvetto.
He had resided in Ridgway for many years and was a former Erie resident. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1973, and had attended Penn State. He had been employed by the Gertrude Barber Center in Erie for 10 years and Hamot Medical Center in Erie for 14 years.
Kenneth L. (Chunk) Danekas, 33, of 28 Lincoln St., Ridgway, died Thursday morning, July 7, 2011, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 10, 1977, in Sycamore, Ill., son of David D. and Jane M. (Fischer) Danekas. He married Kerri E. Brendel on June 19, 2004.
He had resided in Ridgway for 19 years and was a former Janesville, Wisc. resident. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the U.S. Bowling Congress.
E. Tom Wolff, 65, of 4172 Grant Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at his residence.
He was born Dec. 26, 1945 in Ridgway, son of the late Clarence H. (Pug) and Ruby M. (Amacher) Wolff.
He married Judy L. Ecklund on Sept. 30, 1967. She survives.
Clarence George (Buster) Woodley, 87, of 119 Iron Run Rd., St. Marys, died on June 30, 2011 in Munson Regional Medical Center in Traverse City, Mich.
He was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Kersey, son of the late Clarence W. and Clara Anderson Woodley.
On Nov. 25, 1949, in Ridgway Presbyterian Church, he was married to his loving wife, Charlotte N. Rueger Woodley, who survives.
He graduated from Kersey High School, Class of 1942, and from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as attending Duquesne School of Law.
Floyd C. "Pinky" Herzing, 82, of 1910 Bucktail Trail, St. Marys, died on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born April 27, 1929 in St. Marys, a son of the late William and Mary Garbic Herzing.
On November 25, 1950, he married Ethel "Eppie" Schauer Herzing, who survives.
Mr. Herzing was a member of Queen of the World Church, where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was aÂ veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked at Stackpole Carbon for more than 25 years, and also worked for ARCO and Hughes Aircraft.Â
Della Marie Harmon, 92, of West Logan Ave., DuBois, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on Nov. 8, 1918 in Blacklick, she was the daughter of the late Daniel L. & Amanda A. (Kinter) Dunlap.
She was married to Paul E. Harmon for 70 years. He survives.
She was a 1937 graduate of Blairsville High School. She had been employed as a beautician in Indiana, Pa., and had worked at the Penn Traffic Company in DuBois. She was also a dog groomer for many years.
Floyd J. "Pinky" Wickett Sr., 96, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of Elk Towers and Martin Road, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born July 18, 1914 in St. Marys, son of the late Francis J. and Anna Schreiber Wickett.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was a retired employee of St. Marys Carbon Co.
On October 28, 1949, in Morgantown, W.V., he married Ruth M. Mertz, who preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2002.
Ruth A. Bartoletti, 92, of River Road, Caledonia, died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at DRMC West following a short illness.
She was born Aug. 28, 1918 in Penfield, daughter of the late Frederick and Ruth E. (Sexton) Spencer.
She married Charles M. Bartoletti on Oct. 2, 1937, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1991.
David J. "Bud" Silvis, 86, of 152 Baumer Rd., St. Marys, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Pinecrest Manor after an illness of the past several months.
He was born on March 27, 1925, in St. Marys, the son of the late David and Irene Cheatle Silvis. In November 1949 at St. Agnes Episcopal Church, he married Loraine E. Overturf, who preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 1999.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was employed as a chemical engineer at the Stackpole Carbon Co., retiring in 1983.
Anthony James Assalone, 76, of Mt. Run Road, Penfield, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 28, 1934 in Weedville, son of the late Anthony James and Rose Assalone Sr.
He married Catherine (Webb) Assalone on Nov. 22, 1958, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2010.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
