Lillian Frances Dunn, 85, of 405 Willow St., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 24, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a short illness.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in Johnsonburg, daughter of Michael and Winifred Muroski Zelechoski. On Dec. 11, 1945, she married Russell F. Dunn; he died on Nov. 15, 2005.
Our most loving and giving mother, Eve Metelski, 89, of Ridgway/Johnsonburg Road, died on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at the home of her daughters, surrounded by her cherished family.
Eve was born on March 31, 1922, to Barney and Josephine Kolinoski Piurkoski in Johnsonburg. Eve married the love of her life, Dorik Metelski Sr., on May 11, 1946, and together they began their life journey that lasted for 49 wonderful years.
Mary T. Stubber, 88, formerly of 180 Queens Rd., St. Marys, died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at the Sara A. Todd Nursing Home in CarlisleÂ after livingÂ with Alzheimer's for many years.
She was born September 15, 1923 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Michael and Helena Biszak Ausserer.
On November 27, 1948 in St. Marys Church, she married the late John J. Stubber, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 20, 1988.
Joyce Ann Samick White, 73, of King & Queen Court House, died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012.Â
Joyce was the youngest of five children of the late Leo and Agnes Samick of St. Marys.Â She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ralph White; two daughters, Marjorie White and her husband Matthew Koenig of Aydlett, N.C., and Susan Wass and her husband Barry of Gloucester, Va.; two grandchildren, Aaron and Karsyn Wass; a sister, Delores Frey and her husband Joe of St. Marys, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.Â
Vincent F. â€śJimâ€ť Varisano, 85, of 621 Dawson Street, Kane, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at his residence.
Born Dec. 16, 1926, in Kane, he was a son of the late Peter and Angeline Ferraro Varisano.
Jim, a graduate of Kane High School Class of 1944, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, with service in Japan. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Kane, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of service.Â
Lucille M. Silcosky, 87, of Silver Creek Terrace in St. Marys and formerly of 163 W. Center St., Johnsonburg, died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Walter J. and Grace Meise Winters.
She married William "Bill" Silcosky on Jan. 6, 1951 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Johnsonburg. He died on Nov. 17, 1998.
Shirley M. Wolff, 81, of 3727 Old State Rd., Daguscahonda, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.Â
She was born July 27, 1930 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Charles Gerber and Loreena Knowlton Demoizes.
On Jan. 20, 1948, she married the late Miles R. Wolff, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1985.
Betty L. Copello Wright, 87, formerly of 671 Washington Rd., St. Marys, died on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Altus, Okla., where she had made her home for the past several years.
She was born Dec. 13, 1924 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Olive Tyler Johnson and Ernest Johnson.
She was married to the late George E. Copello, who preceded her in death in 1963.
Jerome P. Straub, 88, of 550 School St., St. Marys, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 9, 1924 in St. Marys, son of the late Peter Paul and Irene Leona Fritz Straub.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Vincent Prep School. He was also a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1946, earning an Engineering Degree. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Co., retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service.
Victor C. "Wedo" Aiello, 90, of 301 Fairview Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday evening, Jan. 12, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1921 to Italian immigrants, the late Gennaro and Frances Chirillo Aiello.
He married Vittoria I. Bevacqua on Oct. 18, 1951 in Welland, Ontario, Canada, and she survives
