Shirley A. Fabino, 79, of 155 1/2 Parade St., St. Marys, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the home of her daughter Shelley Dush of Washington Street, St. Marys, after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Kane, daughter of the late Hilding and Ruth Sayers Anderson. On Sept. 24, 1948, in Ridgway, she married Archie J. Fabino, who preceded her in death on Jan. 14,1978.
Mary Lee Bloom, 55, of 4 Gillouly Ave., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born April 28, 1956, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Robert H. and Loretta Hallinen Nussbaum. In 1975, in Johnsonburg she married Hubert J. Bloom Jr., who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1974. She was employed as an LPN at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys and Ridgway.
Charles â€śBernardâ€ť Moore, 90, of Caledonia Pike, Caledonia, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 14, 1920 in Weedville, son of the late Charles Otto and Effie May (Gardner) Moore. On March 4, 1946, he married Vendla Wilhelmina (Anderson), who preceded him in death on July 27, 1983. Â
He was a graduate of Weedville High School, Class of 1939. He was born and raised in Elk County, and lived outside Niagara Falls, N.Y. until he came to Bennetts Valley in 1984.
Gertrude M. Brechtel, 87, a resident of the Lutheran Home in Kane and formerly of St. Marys and Wilcox, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the Lutheran Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Leo and Margaret Breindel Rettger. Her first husband, Bernard Bartasavich, preceded her in death. In 1968, she married Arthur Brechtel, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Eugene R. "Gene" Brechtel, 84, of 159 Terra Cotta Rd., Johnsonburg, died Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2011, at Pincrest Manor in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 4, 1926, in Warren, son of the late Eugene F. and Madeline Weidert Brechtel. On April 7, 1948, he married Catherine J. Rezmerski, who died June 17, 1997.
Marguerite W. â€śMockieâ€ť Clark, 95, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 372 Chestnut Street, St. Marys, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born May 31, 1916 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Stauffer Wiesner. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a graduate of St. Benedictâ€™s Academy and Lock Haven Teacherâ€™s College. She was a retired math teacher from the St. Marys Area School District. She was a member of the St. Maryâ€™s Church, the BPOE (Elks) Auxiliary and the St. Marys Country Club.
Louis J. DiIulio, 84, of Sixth Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 12, 1926 in Keystone, son of the late Armundo and Viola (Cherry) DiIulio.
He married Carrie Beer, who preceded him in death in 1990.
Jerome A. "Tony" Frank, 88, of 118 Straub Ave., St. Marys, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born September 27, 1922 in St. Marys, son of the late Edward G. and Anna Thiel Frank.
On November 7, 1968 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Zora M. Lombardo, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1940. He was a former employee of Speer Carbon and was a 30-year postal employee and served as postmaster from 1962-1981.
Regina A. Korep, 89, of Cushing Avenue in Johnsonburg and recently of Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 12, 1922 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Hipolit and Rosie (Brzostik) Korep.
She lived all her life in the same house on Cushing Avenue in Johnsonburg and was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She worked at Stackpole Carbon. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society and the local polka club.Â She enjoyed dancing and traveling.
Ella M. Jewart, 89, of 134 Uhl Road, Kersey, died on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at UPMC Hamot in Erie following a short illness.
She was born June 14, 1922 in Frenchton, W.V., a daughter of the late Manderville and Maude Simons Jeffries.
Mrs. Jewart was Methodist by faith.Â She worked at L & R Manufacturing for many years and also worked at St. Marys Carbon for more than 17 years.Â She was a dedicated and hard worker who enjoyed embroidery and crocheting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
