Herbert Jacob Himes, 79, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, N.C.
He was born in Brockport, son of the late Jacob Silas and Laura Mae Yale Himes.Â
He served his country with the United States Army and Â was a retired automobile technician and a member of the American Legion. Mr. HimesÂ enjoyed his family, the mountains and was an avid NASCAR fan.Â He was of the Methodist faith.
Clarence G. "Butch" Gausman, 92, of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 276 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 21, 1918 in St. Marys, a son of the late Fred and Margaret Krug Gausman.
Mr. Gausman was a member of St. Mary's Church. He served in the Army during World War II from 1944 until 1946.Â He retired from Speer Carbon Company after more than 40 years of service. He enjoyed watching sports on television.
Mae C. Bradshaw, 91, of 123 Bradley Rd., Centre Hall, and a former St. Marys area resident, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 22, 1919 in Wakefield, Mich., daughter of the late Edward and Catherine McDonald Vaughn. On Nov. 30, 1940, in Detroit, she married Elmo F. Bradshaw II, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1967.
Catherine Mary (Verbeck) Piccirillo, 96, a resident of Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys (formerly of Ridgway), died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011.
She was born March 5, 1914 in Medix Run, Benezette Township, the daughter of Adiel and Mary (Lynch) Verbeck.
At an early age she moved to Ridgway with her family. On Jan. 5, 1931 she married Clyde Piccirillo, who preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1977.
Carl G. Lecker, 56, of 160 Averyville Rd., St. Marys, died on Saturday evening, Feb. 12, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 4, 1954 in St. Marys, a son of the late Albert J. and Naomi Halpin Lecker.
On Nov. 26, 1977 in St. Mary's Church, he married Stephanie Eckert Lecker, who survives.
Albert Louis Covac, 93, of 116 Poplar Rd., St. Marys, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after an illness of the past several months.
He was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Falls Creek, son of the late Joseph and Frances (Mary) Marn Covac.
On Aug. 10, 1940, in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Irene G. Mackcoviak, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys parochial schools. He was also a member of the Queen of the World Church.
Samuel T. "Tom" Mills Sr., 87, of Snyder Memorial Personal Care Home, Marienville, formerly of 190 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died on Feb. 10, 2011 at the Snyder Memorial Personal Care Home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 29, 1923, in Johnsonburg, son of the late John A. and Helena M. Ames Mills.
He married Mary Kathleen Bowley on Nov. 15, 1945 in St. Anne's Church, Wilcox, who preceded him in death on July 25, 2007.
Louis L. "Barney" Rollick, 88, of 821 W. Eschbach Rd., St. Marys, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor.
He was born May 7, 1922 in Rathbun, son of the late Aloys (Lewis) and Mary Eskra Rollick.
On Aug. 26, 1950, in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, he married Ida M. Eckert, who preceded him in death on May 5, 2003.
Betty Rae Showers, 84, of Benezette, died peacefully at her daughterâ€™s home on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 21, 1927 on Winslow Hill in Benezette. daughter of the late Charles and LaJune (Sexton) Larkin. In 1951, she married William E. Showers, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2010. Â
She lived all her life in Benezette and attended Benezette School. She worked at Stackpole Carbon in St. Marys. She loved her home, flowers, gardening and springtime. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends with a cup of hot tea.
Harold L. Seelye, 84, of 632 Cedar Rd., St. Marys, died on Monday evening, Feb. 7, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness of the past year.
He was born Dec. 8, 1926, son of the late Henry and Margaret Grasser Seelye.
On July 19, 1954, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Mary A. Horvatin, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1944. He was an employee of the former National Molded Products for 40 years and was a retired employee of Windfall Products.
