Ronald L. Austin, 69, of 1060 Theresia St., St. Marys, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
He was born Sunday, Sept. 3, 1944, a son of the late Raymond and Doris Burr Austin.
Ron attended Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Ohio. He then attended Wilmington College. He served in the Marine Corp Reserve from 1965-1971. He enjoyed golfing and working, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Robert Woodring, 87, of Winslow Hill, Benezette, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Snyder Memorial Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1926, son of the late Otto and Lola (Crane) Woodring.
All his brothers, except one, served in the military and have now all gone home.
He is survived by a sister, Frances Anderson; a son, Reverend Gary Lee Gerrard; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Dick, Carl, Ralph, Calvin, Rexford Sr., Leslie and Floyd Arron Woodring; and one sister, Hazel VanVoorhis.
Warren M. Johnson, 89, of York, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Pleasant Acres in York.Â
He was born in Grove City on May 14, 1925 and raised in Warren. He was the son of the late Eugene and Alma Christiansen Johnson. He was the husband of Marjorie (Young) Johnson for 64 years.
He was a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, where he was a physics major, member of Carnegieâ€™s Kiltie Band and the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Robert G. "Elvie" Hayes, 55, of 230 George St., St. Marys, died on Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 12, 1958, a son of the late Gerald and Jane Spangler Hayes.
On Oct. 8, 1982 in Sacred Heart Church, he married Mary Nero Hayes, who survives.
Peggy J. Thorwart, 85, of 203 Adams St., Ridgway, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Robert and Ella Truschinger Brownlee. On July 6, 1946, she married Jack Thorwart. She retired as a supervisor from Alltel after 31 years service. She had also been employed for a number of years at Ferragine Spas and Pools. She was a graduate of Ridgway Area High School, Class of 1946.
Wayne E. Cuneo Jr., 83, of Madison Street, Byrnedale, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at his brother's home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 7, 1930 in St. Marys, son of the late Wayne E. and Mary (Keller) Cuneo Sr.
On Aug. 7, 1971, he married Dolores (DeCarli); she preceded him in death in September 2012.
A 1949 graduate of St. Marys High School, he worked with Stackpole Carbon Company from 1949 to 1990, and retired from Carbone of America in 1991.
Richard A. Simchick, 70, of 1625 Bendigo Rd., Johnsonburg, died Thursday evening, June 12, 2014 at West Penn Hospital, Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 26, 1943 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Francis and Eleanor Przybylski Simchick.
On Jan. 29, 1966 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Georgiana Cherry, who preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2013.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1961.
Francesca Salerno, 92, of 203 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday night, June 11, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a year-long illness.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Nicosea, Sicily, daughter of Frank and Maria Camerano Costanzo. On Sept. 14, 1955, she married Anthony Salerno, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2005.
She resided in Johnsonburg from the time of her marriage. She attended school in Sicily. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church and enjoyed spending time at home with her family.
Emily Ann Wheeler (nee Zitzler), 47, died peacefully in her home at 1901 Courtyard Dr., #E, Capitola in her husband's arms in the early hours of the morning, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 after a two and a half year battle with stage 4 colon cancer.
Emily was born April 20, 1967 in Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in St. Marys to Deborah and Ralph Zitzler. When Emily was young, the family moved to southern California and eventually moved to San Jose in northern California.
Thomas S. Rupprecht, 73, of 621 Maurus St., St. Marys, died at Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, on
Monday morning, June 9, 2014.
He was born Sept. 13, 1940 in St. Marys, a son of the late Alois and Mary Gleixner Rupprecht
On July 22, 1961 in St. Mary's Church he married the late Judith M. Munn Rupprecht.
He was a graduate of Central High School in the Class of 1958, and he was a member of the St. Mary's Church. He retired from St. Marys Carbon in 2002 after over 44 years.
