Mary L. Thomas, 81, of Scattertown, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at home.
She was born July 23, 1933 in Gardner Hill, daughter of the late Glenn and Lyida (Wolff) Smith.
She married John Thomas on Feb. 18, 1955, and he preceded her in death in March 1996.
She was a housewife and resided in Scattertown all her life. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Mary was a member of the Penfield Free Methodist Church and was attending the Weedville Wesleyan Church.
Katherine Rose Luhr, 63, of New Brighton, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014.
She was born April 3, 1951 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alvin and Caroline Knouse Luhr.
The first part of her life was spent at home in St. Marys. In 2001, she moved to McGuire Memorial Home in New Brighton where she resided until her death.
Kathy enjoyed working in the greenhouse, swimming, football, social activities, and especially, her baseball hat collection.
Although she was a special needs person, she reminded us of the preciousness of life with her boundless energy.
Gula Lona Watkavitch, 94, of Baumertown, died suddenly at home Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014.
She was born April 7, 1920 in Baumertown, daughter of the late Paul and Gertrude (Buskirk) Lovenduski.
On Jan. 3, 1942, she married John J. Watkavitch in St. Joseph Church. He preceded her in death May 15, 2000.
She was a 1939 graduate of Bennetts Valley High School. She was a floor aide for St. Marys hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed Polka dancing, crocheting and especially time with her grandchildren.
She lived all her life in Baumertown.
Clifford R. Snyder, 78, of St. Marys, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born March 11, 1936 in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Caroline Schatz Snyder.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1954. He was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, DePratorâ€™s Beverage, Oak Manor, and the Dickinson Center.
On Sept. 30, 1961 in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Catherine A. Simchick, who survives.
Edwin J. Heiberger, 76, of 128 Melody Rd., St. Marys, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 24, 1937, a son of the late Bernard Heiberger and Vera Heliker Heiberger Vollmer.
On June 7, 1958 in the St. Mary's Church, he married Bona Djorevich Heiberger, who survives.
Albert S. "Abie" Iorfida, 85, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 320 Depot St., St. Marys, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born April 12, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Gladys Quatroche Iorfida.
On Oct. 1, 1949, he married Kathryn Shadd Iorfida, who preceded him in death April 9, 1987.
James F. Clark, 97, of 208 Teaberry Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 28, 1916 in St. Marys, son of the late Dr. James F. Clark DDS and Margaret L. McGrath.
He was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1934. He lived in Toledo, Ohio for 31 years and returned to St. Marys in 1987. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Corporation, retiring in 1985 after 52 years of service.
On June 1, 1943 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Beatrice Gorman, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2003.
Richard "Rick" John Farabaugh, 54, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 26, 1960 in St. Marys, son of Peg Farabaugh. He was preceded in death by his father, John Farabaugh, in 1995.
Rick attended St. Marys Public High School and was a graduate of Triangle Tech. He was an electrician and owner of Rick's Electric Service in St. Marys for a number of years.
Mark A. Lamper, 60, of Erie, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at his residence.
Born Nov. 17, 1953 in Warren, he was the son of the late Glenn and Violet (McCarthy) Lamper.
Mark worked as a machine operator at Owens Brockway for over 20 years. He loved his bird, was a member of the Moose Club, and an avid lottery ticket player. He also loved spending time with his family and camping at Fox Dam in Kane.
Dad you were the best then, youâ€™re the best now, and your always gonna be the best there ever was. We will love you forever.
Amy J. Sain, 36, of Seven Fields, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Sain; her children, Riley and Ryan; her parents, Theodore and Lorraine Wawrykow; a brother, Joseph C. Wawrykow (Dominique); in-laws Donald and Leah (Dowie) Sain; sisters-in-law Diane Marzula (John), Lisa Jennings (William), Paula Canterino (Joseph), Debbie Sain and Jackie Means (Walker); brothers-in-law Douglas Sain (Leanne) and Robert Campana (Martha); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
