Marcella K. Steger Wonderly, 94, formerly of 423 Hickory St., Ridgway, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Highland View Health Care in Brockway.
She was born March 25, 1918, in Ridgway, daughter of Andrew and Margaret Forester Steger. She married Neil E. Wonderly on July 10, 1941, at St. Leoâ€™s Rectory. He proceeded her in death on June 29, 1969.
Sara J. Parana, 76, of 400 Rock St., Ridgway, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born September 19, 1936, in St. Marys, the daughter of Jacob and Marquerite Smith Ames.
On August 28, 1959, she married Joseph V. Parana, he survives.
Mrs. Parana was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She had been a Ridgway resident for 35 years. She had been employed at Ridgway Area High School, retiring in 1991.
Marguerite J. "Mag" Schaut, 82, of 72 Erie Ave., Marienstadt Place, St. Marys, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1930 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Zolferino and Mary Nart Marconi.
On Aug. 14, 1949, in the St. Leo's Church in Ridgway, she married Mark A. Schaut, who preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1993.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1948. She was an employee of the former Thrift Drug Store in St. Marys.
Raymond C. Wortman Sr., 92, of Erie, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Golden Living Walnut Creek.
He was born in St. Marys on June 5, 1920, the son of the late Bernard â€śBenâ€ť and Mary Goetz Wortman.
A graduate of St. Marys High School, Ray was a hard-working man who had worked with the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Erie Forge and Steel, and Kaiser Aluminum.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Gocal Wortman; his son, Ray C. Wortman Jr. (Kay Von Fry); and four sisters: Alice Magistrelli, Florence Azzato, Rita Zamboldi and Louise Meier.
Paul Stanley Bowser, infant, of 152 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died Friday evening, Oct. 12, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.
He was born on Oct. 12, 2012 in St. Marys, son of Robert Willis and Amber Michael Bowser Jr., who survive.
He was a member of the Johnsonburg First Baptist Church.
Mary Ann Maiers, 79, of Willow Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 26, 1933 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Willliam and Elva (Ford) McCandless.
On July 4, 1953, she married William T. â€śBillâ€ť Maiers of Johnsonburg, who survives.
She lived all of her life in Johnsonburg. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the PA Trappers Women's Auxiliary.Â She enjoyed sewing, quilting and her pet dogs.
Justin F. Latcovich, 31, of 1037 East Center St., Johnsonburg, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012.
He was born on May 21, 1981 in Ridgway, the son of Stephen F. and Christine M. (Pawlk) Latcovich.
On Aug. 30, 2008, he married Julia A. Moriarity, who survives.
Justin had resided in northwestern Pennsylvania all of his life. He had attended Triangle Tech. He was a former employee of Walmart in the maintenance department. He loved his children and enjoyed boating, music, and camping.
L. Harrison "Harry" Schneider, 84, of 1221 E. Eschbach Rd., St. Marys, died on Thursday evening, Oct. 11, 2012 at Dubois Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 17, 1928 in St. Marys, a son of the late Louis J. and Christina M. Mertz Schneider.
On April 23, 1949 in St. Marys Church, he married Grace Entres Schneider, who survives.
Jane "Jennie" Francis, 93, of Silver Creek Terrace, St. Marys, formerly of Johnsonburg and St. Marys, died at the Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys on Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2012 following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1919 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Stephen and Grace Scrivo Vavala.
She married William "Bill" Francis on March 6, 1943; he preceded her in death in August of 1986.
She had resided in St. Marys for the past three years, had lived in Johnsonburg from 1987 to 2009 and had lived in St. Marys prior to 1987.
Charles B. Wolff, 85, of Daguscahonda, died on Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, 2012 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois following a brief illness.
He was born May 28, 1927 in St. Marys, a son of the late Miles R. and Margaret Watson Wolff.
On July 2, 1949 in Ridgway, he married E. Louise Eynon Wolff, who preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 1998.
Mr. Wolff retired from Stackpole Carbon as a truck driver and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Ridgway Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
