James E. Clark Sr., 66, of 1585 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died early Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 15, 1944 in Ridgway, son of the late Robert A. and Margaret I. (McDonald) Clark.
He married Gale M. Moore on July 13, 1968, and she survives.
He resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a member of the Ridgway Moose Club, the V.F.W., and a former member and past president of the International Camping Club. He had attended Ridgway area schools.
Richard "Dick" Carr, 62, of 124 Siecker Rd, St. Marys, died early Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, surrounded by his family following an incredible battle with leukemia.
He was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Ridley Park, Philadelphia, son of the late William and Dorothy Detweiler Carr. He became a lifelong resident of St. Marys.
On July 24, 1970, he married Margaret Weisner Carr. Together they had three children, an amazing, loving marriage, and countless laughs and fun times with family and friends.
Anthony Alan Scilingo, 71, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Anthony was born June 16, 1939 in Johnsonburg, the son of the late Anthony and Adeline Scilingo. In 1962, he married Catherine (Munn) Scilingo, who survives, in Penfield.
Orlin Gray, 70, of Gray Hill Road, Weedville, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at home following a lengthy illness.Â
He was born on May 4, 1940 to the late Lloyd B. "Chizzie" and Jane M. (Wilt) Gray.Â He was married to Corda M. (Wehler) Gray, who survives, for 50 happy years.Â Â Â
Nora Regina Carpin, 94, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Fort Pierce, Fla.â€¨Born in Ridgway, Nora was a resident of Port St. Lucie for 33 years, moving from Kersey.â€¨Before retirement, Nora was an elementary and remedial reading teacher with the St. Marys Area School District.â€¨Her husband, Thomas A. Carpin, superintendent of schools for the St. Marys Area School District, preceded her in death.â€¨She is survived by a son, Brent Carpin and his wife Beverly of Port St.
Emma M. Minnick, 99, of 318 John St., where she resided with her niece, and formerly of 136 Diamond St., St. Marys, diedÂ on Tuesday, April 5, 2011.
She was born Aug. 24, 1911 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Louis and Anna Blessel Lecker.
In September of 1930, in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Charles H. Minnick, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1985.Â
Vernice L. Yazowski, 88, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, and formerly of 401 Alder St., Olean, N.Y., died on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 29, 1923 in Walton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Carl D. and Katharine Bullis Sprague. In Walton, N.Y., she married the late Roy W. Hood, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Yazowski was an active member of the Olean Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Olean, N.Y.Â She enjoyed ï¬‚owers and sewing.
Thomas C. Launer, 57, of 5236 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Rd., Johnsonburg, died Sunday evening, April 3, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.
He was born Oct. 2, 1953, in Ridgway, son of Kenneth E. and the late Naomi Huckabone Launer.
On Aug. 16, 1975 in Holy Rosary Church, he married Gail F. Franco, who survives.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life. He graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1971 and Penn State University in 1977.
Viola K. Leathers, 87, died at the Latrobe Area Hospital on Thursday, March 31, 2011.
She was born July 7, 1923 in DuBois, the daughter of the late Samuel and Twila Stewart Thomas. the last of a family of eight children.
She married Armand A. Leathers, who predeceased her on Feb. 18, 1996, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary.
Helen L. Shields, 94, of Summerville, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Jefferson Manor of Brookville.
She was born Aug. 16, 1916 in Brookville, the daughter of the late Arthur C. DeMotte and Gertrude Carberry DeMotte.
