Mary Elvie Kemmer Hollobaugh, 98, of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 983 Theresia St., St. Marys, died on Saturday evening, June 23, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 30, 1913 in Brockport, a daughter of the late John and Nancy Ann Timblin Reed. On May 6, 1949 in St. Marys Rectory, she married the late William A. Hollobaugh, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2007.
Benedict A. DePrater, 86, of 214 Taft Rd., St. Marys, died at his home on Thursday, June 21, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 16, 1925 in Riceville Corners, Pa., a son of the late Edward and Rosa Frey DePrater. On May 4, 1946 in St. Mary's Church, he married Phyllis Auman DePrater, who survives.
Theodore "Ted" Gapinski, 77, of 9510 Rocksprings St., San Antonio, Texas, died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at home following a brief illness.
Born on Aug. 7, 1934 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late John "Kicker" and Elizabeth "Bee" Gillen Gapinski.
On Oct. 29, 1960, he married Anne Guido, who survives.
Charles D. â€śBudâ€ť Wagner, 71, of 421 Washington St., St. Marys, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 7, 1941 in St. Marys, son of the late George and Marcella Hanes Wagner. On April 20, 1963 in the St. Boniface Church, he married Elizabeth J. â€śBettyâ€ť Grosser, who survives.
Mr. Wagner was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1959. He was a retired employee of Keystone Carbon Company, retiring in 2003 after 44 years of service.
Geno Carobine, 82, of 202 Taylor Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday morning, June 20, 2012 at his home.
He was born March 23, 1930, in Weedville, son of the late Domenic and Josephine (Metallo) Carobine. He married Alice Marie Zucchelli on April 18, 1953; she preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2010.
Geno resided in Ridgway for 59 years and was proprietor of Genoâ€™s Barber Shop. He was a graduate of the Weedville High School. He was a member of St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and council member over the years, and was a board member of St. Leoâ€™s Cemetery Association.
Phyllis J. Buerk Lijewski, 75, of Erie, died Mon., June 18, 2012 at her residence.Â
She was born July 7, 1936 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Regis A. and Isabel S. Brennen Buerk.Â
A 1954 graduate of East High School, Erie, she worked for Perry Truck and Erection from 1962 to 1973, for AMSCO from 1955 to 1962, and most recently as Financial Secretary for Erie Institute of Technology from 1973 until her retirement.Â
She attended the First Spiritualist Church of Erie.
Genevieve Gehrlein Stock, 93, of 501 Washington St., St. Marys, died on Friday evening, June 15, 2012 at the Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
She was born May 5, 1919 in Erie, daughter of the late George and Veronica Faivre Gehrlein. On March 8, 1943 in St. Agathaâ€™s Church in Meadville, she married William R. Stock, who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1998.
She had been a resident of the area since 1959. She was a graduate of Meadville High School and Allegheny College.
John A. Ferragine, 99, of 231 Powers Ave., Johnsonburg, died Friday, June 15, 2012 in the evening at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born March 28, 1913 in Catanzaro, Italy, son of the late Domonic and Mary Magra Ferragine. He married Mary C. Notarianni on Nov. 22, 1941 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg; she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1994.
He resided in Johnsonburg for most of his life. He was a 1933 graduate of Johnsonburg High School.
Irene G. Carnovale, 82, of Johnsonburg, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Kane Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1929 in Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Gustaf and Maria (Omcht) Gratza. On Oct. 10, 1953, she married Patrick â€śPatsyâ€ť Carnovale; he preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1993.
She was a homemaker, also working with Stackpole Carbon of Johnsonburg, IPM of Ridgway, as a retail store demonstrator, and with Johnsonburg Youth Center for several years.
Katherine Z. Brem, 92, of Kersey, died peacefully Friday morning, June 15, 2012, at her daughter Maryâ€™s home, where she had resided since April.
She was born Oct. 15, 1919 in Force, daughter of the late Harvey and Catherine Bigley Hayes. On Sept. 13, 1941 in the Holy Cross Church in Rasselas, she married Ambrose A. â€śBudâ€ť Brem, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1990.
