The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch volleyball squad upped their record to 7-3 on Monday evening with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Curwensville Lady Tide. St. Marys won the first game 25-17, then Curwensville came back to take the second game by a 25-11 score. The Lady Dutch regrouped and came on to take the next two games 25-22 and 25-17 to win the match.
The soccer game between the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch and the DuBois Area Lady Beavers was suspended Monday afternoon with approximately 20 minutes left in the match due to lightning in the area.
The Lady Beavers held a 6-1 advantage over the Lady Dutch when the match was suspended.
DuBois got on the board with 32:02 left in the first half, taking the 1-0 lead.
The Lady Beavers increased their lead to 2-0 with 28:53 left in the first period.
DuBois went up 3-0 with 19:43 left in the first half as they took advantage of the keeper being out of the goal.

Led by junior Stephanie Yetzer’s four goals, the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch soccer team handed the Redbank Valley Lady Bulldogs a 5-0 loss Saturday afternoon at the SMAHS soccer field.
The Lady Dutch took control of the contest in the first half, with 10 shots to Redbank’s two. St. Marys also had four corner kicks to one for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Dutch got on the board with 10:26 left in the first half, when Lauren Challingsworth scored from the right side. They had several other scoring opportunities just miss their mark.
The District 9 Class AAA and AA girls’ tennis doubles tournaments are scheduled for Tuesday at the DuBois Area High School courts.
The St. Marys Area boys' and girls' cross-country teams participated in the State College Invitational on Saturday, finishing in fourth place in both meets. A total of 10 teams competed in the event.
In the girls' meet, State College finished first with 20 points, followed by Altoona with 65, Somerset with 72, St. Marys Area with 117, Shikellany with 138, Midd-West with 150 and Hollidaysburg with 160 points.
St. Marys Area's Adair Gennocro finished first in the girls' meet, while Gideon Woelfel of St. Marys placed third in the boys' meet to lead the local squads.
