The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch soccer team lost a 7-0 contest to the DuBois Area Beavers on a muddy, cold, wet and windy Saturday morning at the SMAHS soccer field.
The Beavers were the aggressors in the first half of the contest as they were able to build a 5-0 lead at the half.
DuBois got on the board at the 31:54 mark to take the 1-0 lead.
As both teams battled their way through the water and mud, neither mounted much of an offensive threat.
DuBois made the score 2-0 at the 16:08 mark as the shot went over the keeper’s head.
BROCKWAY – The Elk County Catholic Crusaders came up a few yards short of beating the Brockway Rovers on Friday evening, losing 42-41 in 2 OT as their two-point conversion attempt failed.
"It was a hard-fought ball game the whole time," said ECC coach Travis Skrzypek. "Both teams played outstanding football. It was an exciting game. We just came out one point shy."
"We definitely played a solid game, I think. We didn't have any dumb penalties. We held onto the ball. We played a solid football game. We just didn't get it done at the end," Skrzypek added.
