The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch basketball team raised their record to 20-1 on the season with a 45-30 victory over the Johnsonburg Ramettes last night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven on Senior Night.
The Lady Dutch opened a 16-5 lead after the first quarter and coasted the rest of the way to their 10th straight win.
“I was happy that we won, but I wasn’t real happy with the way we played. The intensity wasn’t there and we didn’t handle the ball real well,” said St. Marys coach Bob Swanson.
“On the bright side, a lot of kids saw some valuable action,” he added.
JOHNSONBURG – The Rams got 27 total points from their two departing seniors on Senior Recognition Night en route to a 47-45 victory over visiting St. Marys.
Facing a 1-point deficit after three quarters of play, the Rams were able to claw their way back to secure the win.
Despite giving up a score to St. Marys’ Jordan Weinzierl to open up the fourth quarter with the Dutch on top 36-33, Johnsonburg head boys’ varsity basketball coach Bill Shuey said he did not count his team out of the contest.
