November 4th
CLARION - The Clarion Area Lady Bobcat volleyball team eliminated the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders from the District 9-A volleyball tournament Thursday night in a match played at the Clarion Area High School.
Clarion won the first set 25-21, took the second set 25-13 and the third set 25-19.
“We played well at times in the first and third sets,” said ECCHS coach Diane Gies. “We’re an inexperienced team playing well at this time of the year against a ranked opponent.
November 2nd
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch volleyball team advanced to the District 9 Class AA final four by defeating the Clearfield Lady Bisons 3-0 last night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
St. Marys will join top-seeded Bradford, second seed Punxsy and third seed Karns City at Clarion Area High School Saturday to determine the District 9-AA volleyball champ.
The Lady Dutch defeated the Lady Bisons 25-17 in the first set, 25-11 in the second set and 25-10 in the third set to win the match 3-0.
November 1st
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders advanced to the quarterfinals of the District 9 Class A volleyball tournament with a 3-0 victory over the Keystone Lady Panthers last night at the ECCHS gym.
The Lady Crusaders won the first set 25-11. They took the second set 25-15 and won the third set 25-16.
October 30th
RIDGWAY – The snowy weather and muddy conditions on Saturday in Ridgway did little to slow down the Elk County Catholic High School girls' and boys' cross country squads in the District 9 Cross Country Championships held at the Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway. The girls' team won their 11th consecutive AA team title by four points over Northern Potter, while the boys' team finished second after being edged by Oswayo Valley by one point. Both squads will advance to compete in the state meet next weekend in Hershey.
RIDGWAY – The St. Marys Area boys' cross country team used a strong showing on Saturday at the 2011 D9 Cross Country Championship at the Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway to take home the team's first AAA boys' District team title in 30 years. The girls' squad also posted good results for the day, finishing fourth overall out of 12 teams in the girls' AA race.
The runners faced snowy and muddy track conditions for this year's event, but many seemed undeterred by the weather.
October 28th
The Elk County Catholic Crusader football squad picked up a hard-fought 7-0 victory over the visiting Ridgway Elkers on a cold and muddy Friday evening at Dutch Country Stadium in St. Marys. With the win, the Crusaders should have secured a spot in the District 9 playoffs.
"The whole team played well. It was a total team effort tonight on both sides of the ball," said ECC coach Travis Skrzypek. "They kind of believed in what we were trying to tell them on offense. They stuck with it. It was hard going in the mud tonight, but they finally punched the one (touchdown) in at the end."
KARNS CITY - The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch football team closed out their regular season Friday night at Karns City, where the Gremlins downed the Dutch by a 33-21 score.
The Gremlins built a 20-6 first-half lead and led 33-6 after three quarters. The Dutch were able to put 15 points on the board in the final eight minutes of the contest.
“We played with a lot of effort,” said St. Marys coach Joe Schlimm. “We’re undermanned right now. Hopefully our season isn’t over and hopefully we can get healthy for the playoffs, but right now I don’t know.”
October 27th
DuBOIS – The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen boys' soccer team saw their season come to an end on Thursday evening as they were handed a 5-1 loss by the Punxsutawney Chucks in a D9 semifinal match played at the DuBois Area High School soccer field.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-0 victory over the Johnsonburg Ramettes Thursday night at the ECCHS gym.
The Lady Crusaders won the first set 25-20, took the second set 25-5 and won the third set 25-23 to win the match 3-0.

Brockway eliminates Lady Crusaders from 9-A soccer play

BROCKWAY - The Brockway Lady Rover soccer team eliminated the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders from the District 9-A tournament by a 2-1 score in a quarterfinal game played at Frank Varischetti Field in Brockway.
This was the third time that these two teams had met this season.
“They beat us three times by one goal each time,” said ECCHS coach Don Fabiano. “I congratulate them. To beat a team three times in one season is quite an accomplishment.”
