The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch basketball team outscored the Brookville Lady Raiders by a 12-7 margin in overtime to record a 55-50 victory.
The game was tied at 43 after 32 minutes of regulation. In the four-minute overtime period, Adair Gennocro sank nine of 12 foul shot opportunities and Kiana Hoohuli hit a field goal and was one-of-two from the foul line to account for the Lady Dutch points.
“The first three quarters were the best basketball we’ve played,” said St. Marys coach Leona Hoohuli. The Lady Dutch held a 36-17 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader boys' basketball squad faced off against the Johnsonburg Rams for the third time this season Friday evening, and for the third time they came away with a loss. Unlike their three-point loss in the opening-round contest of the Elk County Boys' Basketball Holiday Tournament, though, the Rams outplayed the Crusaders on Friday, outscoring them 45-23 over the final three quarters to take a 58-36 victory.
