DuBOIS – The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader doubles duo of Laira Reuscher and Sophie Herzing, both seniors, defeated their cross-town rivals of Aubrey Wiesner and Chelsea Agosti from St. Marys Area 6-2, 6-1 to claim the District 9 Class AA doubles title on Tuesday afternoon at DuBois Area High School.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team handed the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch squad a 3-0 setback in a match played at the ECCHS gym.
The Lady Crusaders won the first set by a 25-17 margin. They won the second and third set by identical 25-21 scores to win the match.
RIDGWAY - Tough scoring conditions met both Ridgway and Elk County Catholic but the Elkers were able to defeat the Crusaders 212-220 in action Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Mill Golf Course.
Josh Roselli of Ridgway was the medalist for the day with his score of 36.
"The scores were high for the two top teams in District 9 as Laurel Mill Golf Course played tough," Ridgway coach Dave Zawatski said. "Give Josh Roselli credit for being that guy that we have been searching for and going low to make the difference."

SMA travels to ECC tonight
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Curwensville Golden Tide Monday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
Curwensville won the first set by a 25-22 score. The Lady Dutch came back to knot the match at one set apiece by taking the second set 25-17. St. Marys won the third set by a 25-20 margin and won the match by winning the fourth set by the score of 25-18.
