Eleven members of the St. Marys Area High School Swim and Dive Team are at Bucknell University gearing up for the PIAA state meet, which begins today. Swimmers who qualified for the meet are Emma Daghir, Alex Renwick, Andrew Cotter, Corey Koss, Jeffrey Moore, Kylee Proudfit, Matt Hoffman, and Ryan Struble. Divers are Jake Burns, Kyle Pistner, and Tim Mosebarger.
The St. Marys Area Winter Sports Awards Program was held Tuesday evening in Carpin Auditorium.
Student Activities Director Terry Straub welcomed everyone to the awards portion of the evening in Carpin Auditorium.
The first order of business was presenting Michael Fox and Matt Hoffman with their Upper Allegheny Soccer League trophies, which they received for being named to the UAVSL all-star squad following the fall season.
The three co-op sports were the first to present their letter winners.
ECC finishes with fine 24-5 record
PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader basketball team was eliminated from the PIAA Class A girls’ tournament by the Vincentian Academy Lady Royals last night in a second-round game played at Punxsutawney Area High School by a 57-38 score.
The Lady Crusaders got off to a rough start offensively, as the Lady Royals outscored them 17-6 in the first period and 11-10 in the second quarter to take a 28-16 halftime lead. In the second half, Vincentian outscored Elk Catholic 29-22.
