The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader girls' softball team recorded a 12-1 victory over the Johnsonburg Lady Rams in a five-inning game played on Tuesday afternoon at Benzinger Park.
"I'm really happy with it (the game) today," said Johnsonburg coach Jenny Lewis. "I think we showed a lot of improvement since last game. We lost 20-0 last game, and to come out and almost play a whole game [where we] had several hits, different girls on base, [and] we scored a run, we're coming along."
Taylor Schlimm went the distance for ECC, giving up two hits and striking out eight.
The St. Marys Area track and field teams played host to the Johnsonburg and Clearfield squads on Tuesday at Dutch Country Stadium.
The Dutchmen swept their meets, defeating Johnsonburg 120-30 and Clearfield 109.25 to 39.75.
The Lady Dutch lost to the Ramettes 90-44 and to the Lady Bisons 88-53.
For the Dutchmen against the Rams, Jimmy Werner was a triple winner, taking the shot put, discus and javelin.
