The Wilcox Legion baseball team is in today’s championship contest despite losing by an 11-6 score to French Creek Valley in the nightcap of the Region 8 Tournament Tuesday at Berwind Park.
Today’s schedule will see French Creek Valley taking on Albion at 1 p.m., with the loser being eliminated. The winner of that game will take on Wilcox for the Region 8 title in a game scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
The St. Marys Legion baseball team saw their run in the Region 8 Tournament come to an end on Monday evening with a loss to French Creek Valley. The 14-4, eight-inning loss was St. Marys' second in the double elimination tournament.
"Once again it was just a matter of four or five innings where we played good ball, and then the wheels came off," said St. Marys manager Fran Pasi after the game.
Wilcox meets French Creek Valley tonight
The Wilcox Legion squad remained undefeated in the Pa. American Legion Region 8 Tournament with a 14-6 victory over the Millcreek team.
Wilcox will now meet French Creek Valley tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Berwind Park.
Today’s first game will see Albion taking on Millcreek in an elimination game. Albion is the Erie County champ while Millcreek in the Erie County runner up.
In last night’s nightcap, which lasted almost 3 1/2 hours, both teams had 14 hits.
