“I am disappointed in the outcome,” said St. Marys coach Joe Schlimm. “We had a lot of first-game mistakes and we definitely have things to work on. This was a learning experience. We’ll learn from this and work to get better for next week.”
FOX TWP. – The Elk County Catholic High School boys' soccer team may not have started their season off with a loss, but they did not start out with a win, either, as the squad was unable to put any shots past DuBois Central Catholic keeper Zach Marshall in ECC's season opener on Friday night at Angela Huey Memorial Field in Fox Township. Despite each team's best efforts, both goalies were flawless throughout the entire match, which ended in a 0-0 tie in double overtime.
ST. MARYS - It was not the opening to the 2012 season that the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders varsity girls' soccer team was hoping for. The DuBois Central Catholic Lady Cardinals left Benzinger Park Friday with a 3-0 victory.
Junior Maddie Meyers accounted for all the scoring in the contest. Her first goal came with 29:18 remaining in the first half on a pass from senior Aundrea Snyder. Meyers tallied again just 50 seconds from intermission.
The Lady Cardinals striker got her final score with 15:09 left in the game.
