A bloop single to left field by St. Marys' Dan Stauffer scored Tim Beimel from third base as the St. Marys Legion baseball squad edged the Bradford Legion 2-1 Tuesday night at Berwind Park.
SLIPPERY ROCK â€”Â The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders will be playing for the PIAA Class A Softball Championship Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Nittany Lion Softball Park at Penn State.
The Lady Crusaders didn't use a walk-off this time but they came up with a 2-1 victory over the Cochranton Cardinals Tuesday at Slippery Rock University.
For the third consecutive game, the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader softball team has used a walk-off to keep them on the road to State College.

The St. Marys American Legion Post 103 squad extended their win streak to five games on Thursday night as they walked off 10-0 in five innings against Smethport under the lights at Berwind Park. The win was especially meaningful to the Post 103 squad because Smethport had handed them their only defeat so far in their season opener.
While the St. Marys American Legion Post 103 squad made a lot of noise in their home opener on Monday night, defeating Fox Township 7-1, the game began with a moment of silence in memory of former Fox Township Legion manager Kevin Petrocchi, who died a year prior.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader softball team scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to capture the District 9 Class A softball championship. Elk Catholic edged the Smethport Lady Hubbers in the title game played at Brockway.
KERSEY â€” The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader softball team advanced to the District 9 Class A championship game with a 7-2 victory over the DuBois Central Lady Cardinals Tuesday afternoon at the Fox Township Community Park.
DuBOIS â€“Â The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch saw their season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to the Punxsutawney Lady Chucks on Tuesday afternoon in the District 9 Class AAA title game in DuBois.
DuBOIS â€“Â The Elk County Catholic Crusaders saw their season come to an early end with a 5-2 loss to Clarion on Tuesday night under the lights at Showers Field in DuBois in the District 9 Class A semifinals.
Elk County Catholic's Nicole Florio medaled at the PIAA Class AA Track and Field Championships being held at Shippensburg University this weekend by finishing in a tie for fourth place in the high jump.
Florio cleared a height of 5'4" to win the medal.
