Stifling pitching, defense stymies ECC in 2-1 win

It just might be the "Burg Way" after all.
Armed with a cooperative sports agreement between Ridgway and host school Johnsonburg, the Ramettes on Tuesday scored a 2-1 win over visiting Elk County Catholic in a softball game held at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway.

Crusader tennis defeats DCC 8-1

The ECC and DCC boys' tennis teams met on Monday afternoon at Benzinger and Memorial Parks to play the remainder of a match that started on Monday, April 14 but was rained out in the first set. Play resumed from the point of interruption, and the Crusaders went on to win 8-1 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Warren softball spoils Lady Dutch home opener 3-0

The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team finally played their home opener Monday afternoon as they took on the Warren Lady Dragons at the SMAHS softball field.
Warren came up with three runs in the to half of the sixth inning to down the Lady Dutch 3-0.

ECC track and field teams top St. Marys Area

The St. Marys Area girls' and boys' track and field teams hosted the Elk County Catholic and DuBois Central Catholic squads in a meet on Thursday afternoon at Dutch Country Stadium.
The Lady Crusaders defeated St. Marys 78-72, and the Crusaders beat the Dutchmen 87-61.

ECC baseball remains undefeated with 9-1 win over Rams

The defending District 9 Class A baseball champion is making a claim to be a favorite for that crown again.
Elk County Catholic moved to 6-0 on the season with a 9-1 victory over Johnsonburg Thursday afternoon at Knothole Area Recreational Park.

Altoona scores two in the seventh to edge Dutch 4-2

The Altoona Lions scored two runs in the top half of the seventh inning to edge the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen by a 4-2 score Thursday afternoon at Berwind Park.

Crusaders shut out Wolves 10-0 in six innings

When the game between the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen and Bradford Owls was postponed on Wednesday afternoon, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders and Kane Wolves took advantage of the open field at Berwind Park and moved their matchup there due to reportedly poor field conditions in Kane. The Wolves remained the home team in the contest, but that did not matter to the Crusaders, who scored in every inning but the fifth to claim a 10-0 shutout in six innings.

Bauer has no-hitter as ECC defeats Kane 15-0 in three innings

Abbey Bauer threw a no-hitter and the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders put together 15 runs to defeat the Kane Lady Wolves 15-0 in a three inning contest on Wednesday afternoon at Benzinger Park.

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen and Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers had every intention of playing baseball on Monday afternoon at Berwind Park. Unfortunately, the weather did not agree with those plans.

The Elk County Catholic girls' and boys' track and field squads took part in the Kane Invitational on Saturday, with both teams earning third place finishes out of 15 teams.
