Â The St. Marys Area competition cheerleading squad placed third out of 11 teams at the third annual District 9 Competitive Spirit Championships on Saturday afternoon at the DuBois Area High School, advancing to the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships for the third consecutive season.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders extended their winning streak to 11-0 with a 55-27 victory over the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch on Saturday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
The Elk Catholic Crusaders took advantage of a strong second quarter to hand the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen a District 9 League 64-48 loss Saturday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.

The St. Marys Area gymnastics squad suffered their first loss of the season Thursday night as they fell to Altoona 125.45-122.625 in a meet held at the St. Marys Area Middle School.
The St. Marys Area swim and dive teams both picked up wins over Brookville on Thursday night at the SMAHS natatorium. The Lady Dutch beat the Lady Raiders 149-32, and the Dutchmen won 94-66 over the Raiders.
The St. Marys Area Dutch wrestling squad picked up another big win at home Tuesday evening, defeating D9 Class AAA rival DuBois Area 43-23 in the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
After a flat first 16 minutes of play, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders came out in the second half to outscore the Punxsutawney Chucks 31-16 on their way to a 72-50 District 9 League victory at the ECCHS gym Tuesday night.
The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch basketball team held on for a 59-57 non-league win over the Brockway Rovers Monday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
Prior to Friday night's game against the Bradford Owls, the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen had been on the road so far all season aside from their pair of games last week in the Elk County Holiday Basketball Tournament. Perhaps to make up for lost time, they treated fans to a little bit of everything in what was arguably their real regular season home opener.
