A walk-off grand slam by Cheyenne Bothun gave the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team a 5-1, nine-inning victory over the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders Friday evening at the SMAHS softball field on Senior Night.
Elk County Catholic High School held its 2013-2014 Spring Athletic Awards Program, sponsored by the ECCHS Athletic Association, on Tuesday, May 13, honoring not only all of the athletes on the school's spring sports teams, but also acknowledging the accomplishments of athletes who have performed well throughout the school year.

Senior Josh Burns won the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Freshman Tom Bojalad won the shot put.
Burns qualified for the 110 finals by taking second in his heat with a time of 16.19 seconds. In the finals, Burns won with a time of 14.95 seconds. He won the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.86 seconds.
he Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader softball team used a seven-hit attack to defeat the Kane Lady Wolves by a 17-0 score Wednesday afternoon at Kane in five innings.

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders improved to 10-6 on the season with a pair of wins over the Sheffield Lady Wolverines during a doubleheader on Monday afternoon at Benzinger Park. ECC was the home team for the first game and won 11-0 in five innings. The Lady Crusaders took to the field as the visitors in the second game and won 16-0 in four innings.
The Brockway duo of James Matson and Aaron Barraclough captured the District 9-AA Tennis Doubles championship played Monday at the DuBois Area courts.
The Brockway tandem defeated Elk Catholic's Austin Minard and Cory Huff 6-3, 6-0 in the finals to claim the crown.
he Elk County Catholic Crusaders were up 11-0 headed into the fifth inning, but some changes to the Crusaders' defense provided the opportunity for the Brookville Raiders to attempt to rally as they also took advantage of a few miscues to close the deficit to 11-6. Elk Catholic regrouped with a few more changes and was able to hold off Brookville for a 14-7 victory to remain unbeaten.
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team saw a six-game winning streak come to an end Friday afternoon as they lost a 3-1 contest to the Central Mountain Wildcats at the SMAHS softball field.
