DuBOIS – The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen boys' soccer team saw their season come to an end on Thursday evening as they were handed a 5-1 loss by the Punxsutawney Chucks in a D9 semifinal match played at the DuBois Area High School soccer field.

Lady Crusader volleyball downs Johnsonburg 3-0

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-0 victory over the Johnsonburg Ramettes Thursday night at the ECCHS gym.
The Lady Crusaders won the first set 25-20, took the second set 25-5 and won the third set 25-23 to win the match 3-0.

Brockway eliminates Lady Crusaders from 9-A soccer play

BROCKWAY - The Brockway Lady Rover soccer team eliminated the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders from the District 9-A tournament by a 2-1 score in a quarterfinal game played at Frank Varischetti Field in Brockway.
This was the third time that these two teams had met this season.
“They beat us three times by one goal each time,” said ECCHS coach Don Fabiano. “I congratulate them. To beat a team three times in one season is quite an accomplishment.”

Raiders edge Crusaders 1-0 in D9 playoffs

KERSEY – The Elk County Catholic High School boys' soccer squad came up short to the Brookville Raiders on Wednesday evening, losing a close quarterfinal match 1-0 at Angela Huey Memorial Field.

Lady Crusaders edge Lady Elkers, 3-2

RIDGWAY - The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders fought back from a 2-1 match deficit and a match point in the final set for a 3-2 (25-11, 23-25, 24-26, 25-14, 16-14) victory over Ridgway Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
ECC won the first set but lost the next two to Ridgway, putting the Lady Elkers ahead entering the fourth set. The Lady Crusaders won the fourth set at 25-14 which set up the winner-take-all set.

Union Knights hand Dutchmen 25-7 setback

RIMERSBURG - The Union Golden Knights handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen a 25-7 Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference setback last night at Rimersburg.
The Dutchmen found themselves down 19-0 at the half and were not able to get out of the hole in the second half.
“I give Union all the credit. They outplayed us in every facet. They were well-coached and well-prepared,” said St. Marys coach Joe Schlimm.
“We didn’t handle adversity early in the ball game. We had to play catch-up and we’re not very good at that game,” he added.

Crusaders crushed by Golden Tide 38-6

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders were dealt a tough 38-6 loss by the Curwensville Golden Tide during a cold, wet and muddy contest at Dutch Country Stadium in St. Marys on Friday evening. The Crusaders' lone touchdown came in the middle of the third quarter after the Golden Tide had already built a 30-point lead.

Dutch soccer edges Port Allegany 2-1

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen boys' soccer squad ended their regular season by slipping and sliding their way to a muddy 2-1 victory over the Port Allegheny Gators in a cold and rainy match on Thursday afternoon at the SMAHS soccer field.
All of the scoring for both teams took place in the first half.

Johnsonburg volleyball team downs Lady Dutch 3-0

The Johnsonburg Ramettes volleyball team handed the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch squad a 3-0 setback Thursday on Senior Night for St. Marys Area.
The Lady Dutch seniors, along with their parents, were recognized in pre-match ceremonies.
The Ramettes won the first set by a 25-19 margin. They took the second set 25-22 and won the third set 25-23 to win the match 3-0.
“I can’t be disappointed with the loss,” said St. Marys coach Erica Vogt. “Overall we did well. The six seniors all did well tonight.”

Lady Dutch soccer ends season with 1-0 win over Smethport

Smethport scored the only goal in Wednesday afternoon's girls' soccer match at the SMAHS soccer field; however, it was the Lady Dutch who came away with the 1-0 win.
"We lost to them the first time, so getting a little revenge was nice," said SMA coach Dr. Bob Schmidt. "[They were] some pretty well-matched teams and we've continued to improve. We had a lot of good action up front with Aspyn Wolff, Holly Shields, and Caley Keister, and then in the back with Mia Keener and Shannon Bridges, as well as Haley McGowan. It was a good team effort and a nice way to finish the season."
