APMI holds monthly gathering

October 22, 2012

The APMI West Penn Chapter recently held its monthly technical session
meeting at The Royal Inn in Ridgway. Jose Medina,General Manager
of Sinterite Furnace a Gasbarre Company, delivered an excellent
presentation entitled “Furnace Cooling" Pictured here are (left to

The next meeting for the APMI West Penn Chapter will be held on
November, 8th 2012 at Dubois Country Club in Dubois. For more

Joseph A. Sette

October 22, 2012

Joseph A. Sette, 86, of Lock Haven, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at Lock Haven Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Renovo, the son of the late Frank and Concettina Curato Sette.
He had been a Lock Haven resident since the end of WWII. Mr. Sette was Catholic by faith. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He had been employed at Lock Haven University.

Katrina E. Bjorkquist

Katrina E. Bjorkquist, 84, of Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Claus and Olivia Johnson Bjorkquist.
She was a lifelong Ridgway resident. Ms. Bjorkquist was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women and choir. She had been employed at West Penn Power and Ridgway Community Nurses.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

More Project FeederWatch participants needed to track winter birds

ITHACA, N.Y.—The 26th season of Project FeederWatch begins November 10, and participants are needed more than ever. By watching their feeders from November through April and submitting their observations to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, bird watchers make it possible for scientists to keep track of changing bird populations across the continent. ID requested, not required, in General Election

Voters will be asked, but not required, to show an acceptable photo ID on Election Day.  All photo IDs must contain an expiration date that is current, unless noted otherwise. Voter's names on their photo IDs do not need to exactly match their voter registration, but the names must substantially conform.  Acceptable IDs include:
• Photo IDs issued by the U.S. Federal Government or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (including the Department of State Voter ID Card)
• PA Driver’s License or Non-driver’s License photo ID (IDs are valid for voting purposes 12 months past expiration date)

Marcia L. (Reid) Etherson

Marcia L. (Reid) Etherson, 79, of Cranberry Township, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.
She was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Alexander P. and Virginia (Kellert) Reid. On May 8, 1953, in Dubois, she married Francis T. Etherson, who survives.
She lived in St. Marys for over 30 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church of St. Marys, a member of several bridge clubs, a local Quilt Guild, a volunteer knitter for Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
