St. Marys artist Peter Winklbauer is showcasing his latest collection of 60 watercolor paintings during a one-man show as part of the Meet the Artist night on Friday, Feb. 4 at the Diamond View Restaurant and Lounge.
The showing will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the former St. Marys Country Club. The event is free and open to the public.
"I believe this is a culmination of my best work." Winklbauer said. "Painting is my life. It's not about selling works, but about creating them."

Susie and Donny "Flip" Bobenrieth, the new owners of St. Marys Monuments, help guide people through the process of choosing a fitting memorial that suits individual tastes and budgets.
"We take care of it from beginning to end," Donny said.

The Lady Crusaders of Elk County Catholic avenged an early-season loss at Kane by recording a thrilling 49-46 victory over the Kane Area Lady Wolves on Monday evening at the Aaron J. Straub Gymnasium on the Elk Catholic Campus in an AML game. This was only the second loss of the season for the Lady Wolves of Kane.
The Lady Crusaders were defeated 55-35 early in December at the Kane gym, but rebounded to record the three-point victory on Monday at their home gym.
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch used an 18-0 run to start the second half on their way to a 66-19 non-league victory over the Ridgway Lady Elkers last night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
The Lady Dutch led 19-6 after the first period and held a 23-10 lead at the half. The Lady Dutch connected on six straight three-pointers to break the game open and take a 51-10 lead with 1:15 left in the third period.
“We shot the ball well and played good defense,” said St. Marys coach Bob Swanson.
Swanson noted that his squad hit 47 percent from the two-point range and 30 percent from the three-point range.
James C. "Duffy" Haberberger, 82, formerly of 1050 S. Michael Rd., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 5, 1928 in St. Marys, a son of the late Fred and Margaret Friedl Haberberger.
On Oct. 4, 1956 in Queen of the World Church, he married Anna Mae Lecker Haberberger, who survives.
Keiko C. Geci, 79, of San Diego, Calif. and formerly of St. Marys, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.
 She was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Omura City, Nagasaki, Japan, a daughter of the late Senichi and Rei Uragaki.
 On Jan. 18, 1971, she married Rudolph Geci, who survives.
2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, and in an effort to acknowledge the occasion, the Mt. Zion Historical Society plans to construct a monument at the Mt. Zion Historical Park to honor the members of the Elk County Rifles, Company G, of the Civil War Bucktail Regiment.
Elk County Council on the Arts is looking for your votes to improve its art gallery in downtown Ridgway, one of the hundreds of projects in the running for a $25,000 grant as part of the nationwide Pepsi Refresh project.
"We will work toward making physical improvements in the gallery. A proper gallery space will help to support our local artists and create a more user-friendly space for the community," explained ECCOTA Executive Director Abbi Peters about the organization's project goal.
Hip-hop artist and St. Marys native Dustin "Dee" Aunkst is hoping to move his career to the next level with his new album, "This Music is My Diary," set for release today.
Aunkst remembers when he first began honing his craft at various venues in and around Elk County, initially recording tracks in his bedroom at his mother's house.
"My favorite thing about St. Marys was the laid-back atmosphere. While I was in high school, it was easy to walk around with a backpack full of CDs to sell. It was a smaller town, so any song I put out created a buzz," Aunkst said.
