This summer, incoming kindergarten students in the St. Marys Area School District will be able to boost their skills and prepare for the school experience through the Kindergarten Readiness Program (KRP).
According to the Fox Township Supervisors, the township's planning commission will need to revise the township's zoning ordinance accordingly in regard to the state's adoption of the Marcellus Shale Drilling Act. This will need to be done in order for the township to receive impact fees associated with drilling.
The supervisors approved an amendment be added to the township's lease agreement with the Fox Twp. Senior Center to confirm that the township has budgeted for the payment of the electric and gas at the senior center building since 2005.

Itâ€™s no surprise that Kane native Jim Sirianni became a high school history teacher.
The late Robert â€śChiefâ€ť Carson, a Kane teacher, heavily influenced Sirianni. And he listened to his tutor and has had a 36-year career as a history teacher at Kane Area High School.
â€śIâ€™ve always been interested in history,â€ť Sirianni said.
Sirianni not only teaches history. He has dug deep into the subjectâ€”especially on the local level.
Charlene Parks Bradford, 54, of Homosassa, Fla., died on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 after a brief illness.
She was born May 2, 1957, in Johnsonburg, the daughter of the late Harold D. and Ethel (Arron) Parks.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Bradford of Homosassa, Fla.; three brothers, Larry Parks of Johnsonburg, Gary Parks of Wilcox, and Kirk Parks of St. Marys; and a sister, Tammy Parks of Johnsonburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Parks of California, in 1992.
The St. Marys Area Winter Sports Awards Program was held Tuesday evening in Carpin Auditorium.
Student Activities Director Terry Straub welcomed everyone to the awards portion of the evening in Carpin Auditorium.
The first order of business was presenting Michael Fox and Matt Hoffman with their Upper Allegheny Soccer League trophies, which they received for being named to the UAVSL all-star squad following the fall season.
The three co-op sports were the first to present their letter winners.
ECC finishes with fine 24-5 record
PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader basketball team was eliminated from the PIAA Class A girlsâ€™ tournament by the Vincentian Academy Lady Royals last night in a second-round game played at Punxsutawney Area High School by a 57-38 score.
The Lady Crusaders got off to a rough start offensively, as the Lady Royals outscored them 17-6 in the first period and 11-10 in the second quarter to take a 28-16 halftime lead. In the second half, Vincentian outscored Elk Catholic 29-22.

The event, sponsored by Relay for Life's Team SMP which consists of staff of St. Marys Pharmacy and Home Medical, is taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the St. Boniface Elementary School cafeteria in Kersey. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
The Red Cross Blood Drive, held Wednesday at the Moose Club in St. Marys, saw over 60 individuals turn up to donate.

Elk County Catholic High School recently held its annual induction ceremony for the National Honor Society, this year welcoming 30 new members into the organization.
In addition to maintaining a certain grade point average, inductees also had to meet specific criteria related to leadership, service, and character.
