The Keystone Elk Country Alliance was excited to host Memorial Parks Day Camp Tuesday at the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette.Â The youngsters started off a fun day with a trail walk where they learned about the Center and the grounds lead by Conservation Education Specialist, Nicole Meyer.
The baseball field in the Village of Force, shown on the left, was one of a multitude of areas in the region that faced severe flooding. Lake Sabula near DuBois, shown on the right, reached high levels due to nearly six inches of rainfall.
Mary Grace Chubbuck, regent elect of the Penn-Elk Chapter of DAR, and Lynn Nicklas, honorary state regent of the Pennsylvania Daughters of the American Revolution, place a wreath honoring deceased veterans in front of the memorial at Memorial Park while being assisted by minutemen Gavin and Sean.
On May 12, Mother's Day, at 1:05 p.m., Ridgway had a quick, heavy, but very short lived snowfall which left a trace of snow that disappeared in a steamy scene just five-minutes later. Similar snow events happened throughout the day in St. Marys and Fox Township as well.
