Elk State Park culvert replacement project

July 13, 2011

The culvert replacement on Little Dents Road over Little Dents Run in Benezette Township, Elk County has begun. The road beyond the project is closed to all motorized traffic. Work is set to be completed before the two-week deer season begins. The bid was awarded to DBA Coleman Construction Company of Renovo for $179,550. Photo submitted.

On Friday, vehicles lined roadways surrounding NASA's Kennedy Space Center, including state Route 405 in Titusville, Fla., which became a parking lot as drivers stopped on the road or pulled off to watch the final launch of the Atlantis space shuttle.

Lessons at Community Pool going swimmingly

Area youth at the St. Marys Community Pool are wrapping up the second session of swimming lessons, which is wrapping up Friday. The first session ran from June 6 to June 17. The third session will take place July 18 to July 29 and anyone interested in lessons is encouraged to sign up; lessons are available for people ages three to adult. 4-H Youth Creative Cooking

Recently, members of the 4-H Summer Program who were in the Creative Cooking club made a variety of yummy snacks ranging from homemade macaroni and cheese to caramel apples.
