St. Boniface School holds Christmas performance

St. Boniface School performed its Christmas program, "Merry Christmas Museum, on Thursday, Dec. 6. The story centered around students touring a Christmas museum with their teacher and featured performances by students in all grade levels. The performance concluded with the singing of "Silent Night" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." Pictured above are students performing.

St. Marys Area Middle School performs holiday concert

Students in the St. Marys Area Middle School Band and Show Choir performed a holiday concert for area residents Thursday evening at the high school. They entertained the audience with a variety of traditional and new songs.

Santa-St. Marys Light Up Night 2012

St. Marys kicked off the holiday season with Light Up Night on Friday. Many area residents turned out to watch a short parade that escorted Santa Claus and friends into town. The parade included the Crystal Fire Department, Elk County Humane Society, Fox Township Bicentennial float, and the Elk County Catholic High School Marching Band. Following the parade, the lights on the Diamond were turned on, thrilling the crowd. Many children visited Santa at Northwest Savings Bank following the activities on the Diamond.

New Red Cross chapter opens office in St. Marys

A new office of the American Red Cross' PA Heartlands Chapter recently opened in St. Marys located on S. Michael Street in the Stone Creek Plaza. The PA Heartlands Chapter encompasses Elk, Cameron, Jefferson and Clearfield counties. The office is the former home of the Elk/Cameron chapter of the Red Cross until it was decided to merge several chapters into one. Jason Bange has been named executive director and has held that title for the past four years at the McKean/Potter chapter. He is shown on the far right with members of the office staff.

Elk Mountain Winery donates to Elk Regional

Elk Mountain Winery recently donated $700 to Elk Regional Health center to benefit women's health initiatives at ERHC. The funds were raised from proceeds of the sale of two of the winery's blush wines throughout the month of October, as well as from a "Bras for a Cause" event that was held at the winery.
