A visit from Santa

Will Wortman receives a candy cane from Santa Claus prior to the start of the varsity boys' basketball game at Elk County Catholic High School on Saturday night. Santa made his annual appearance at the team's final home contest before Christmas and visited with a number of youngsters to hear their last-minute gift requests.

Daily Press Kids' Calendar contest winner

The Daily Press recently concluded its Kids' Calendar contest. Twelve youngsters were chosen by votes from the community to each represent a month in the calendar. Area residents sent in $1 to vote for the child of their choice, with a portion of the proceeds going to Project Gifts for Elk County.

Shephard & Angel greet visitors to Living Nativity

This angel and shepherd were among several youngsters who participated in the First United Methodist Church's Living Nativity.
Area residents stopped by the pavilion of the on South Michael Road each evening during the weekend to view a live Nativity portrayed by church members and their animal friends. The display helped people experience the joy of the Nativity and refocus on the spiritual meaning of Christmas.

Area residents stopped by the pavilion of the First United Methodist Church on South Michael Road each evening during the weekend to view a live Nativity portrayed by church members and their animal friends. The display helped people experience the joy of the Nativity and refocus on the spiritual meaning of Christmas.
