The Elk County Catholic track and field teams split with the Punxsutawney squads Tuesday afternoon in a meet held at the ECCHS track and field complex.
The Lady Crusaders defeated the Lady Chucks 104-46 while the Chucks downed the Crusaders 86-64.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader tennis team defeated the visiting Bradford Owls 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in a match played at both Benzinger and Memorial Parks. It was a cool, windy afternoon with a few rain drops at times, but the teams were able to complete the match.
With inclement weather threatening, the Elk County Catholic and Johnsonburg softball teams were able to complete just enough of their game Monday afternoon to make it count.
The contest was originally scheduled to be a home game for the Ramettes, but the weather resulted in it being moved to Benzinger Park and changed to a home game for ECC. The Lady Crusaders ended up winning the weather-shortened contest 10-2 in five innings.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader tennis team saw their record slip to 5-2 on the season as they lost to the undefeated Warren Dragons 7-2 Friday afternoon in a match played at Benzinger and Memorial Parks. Both of Elk's losses have been to Warren.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader softball team is now 3-0 on the season after rallying from a three-run deficit to edge the DuBois Area Lady Beavers 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon in a contest played at the newly renovated St. Marys Little League Softball field at Benzinger Park.
For the second year in a row, the Elk County County Catholic Crusader baseball team can boast an undefeated record midway through the month of April. Unfortunately for the Crusaders, it is a lot easier for them to be undefeated this season as they have only played one game.
ECC finally got their 2015 campaign going on Tuesday when they hosted the Cameron County Red Raiders in a 4:15 p.m. game at Berwind Park. Though Cameron County was able to take an early lead, the Crusaders rallied to win 12-2 in five innings.
