Events that sent St. Marys into a panic Tuesday afternoon with reports of a shooting at St. Marys Area High School were the actions of a nine-year-old juvenile, whose age prohibits criminal prosecution, according to police who are unable to release any identifying information such as name, gender and school.
As a result of a joint investigation between the St. Marys City Police and Pennsylvania State Police, it was discovered that the juvenile placed the 911 calls from a cell phone while he/she was riding on a school bus on their way home.
"Authorities are convinced that the juvenile was not aware of the consequences of their actions," according to a St. Marys City Police press release.
