911 Center upgrades console

Elk County commissioners on Tuesday approved the purchase of a new radio console valued at over $200,000.Michael A. McAllister, director of Elk County Emergency Management, reported Tuesday that the county's current console system has been rendered obsolete."Currently at the 911 Center, our radio console is a Motorola centracom console and it is over 20 years of age," McAllister said. "Last year we received our end-of-life letter notifying us that [Motorola] will no longer be supporting it and when parts are gone, they are no longer producing parts for it.
