The St. Marys Area Ambulance Service is currently holding their annual subscription campaign, which takes place every April, and funds generated by the event are used to provide upfront operating capital for the purchase of vehicles and equipment as well as to fund training for staff members.
According to St. Marys Area Ambulance Service Manager Bert Sorg, the organization responds to around 3,000 ambulance calls each year. Assistant Manager Bob Gnan added that the ambulance service currently has five ambulances, a paramedic intercept unit and two wheelchair vans. The non-profit organization has 35 employees on staff, and staff members are in-house 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to allow them to respond quickly to calls throughout the area served by the organization.
