Amer V. Haight

Amer V. Haight, 92, of 123 Swede St., Dagus Mines, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Pinecrest Manor after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Emlenton, son of the late Joseph Curtis and Ozzie Silvis Haight. On Jan. 25, 1946, in Miola, he married Violet R. Allshouse, who survives.
He had been a resident of the area since 1951. He attended Elder Township School and was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1972 after 27 years of service.
He was a member of the Maria Lutheran Church; a member of the quarter century club at Airco; a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army/Air Force; a lifetime member of the Dagus Mines American Legion; a member of the Kersey Firemen; and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Vicky Ann Reed (Vernon) of St. Marys, Debora J. Eastman (Lance) of Allegany, N.Y., and Linda Fox (John) of St. Marys; four sons, James R. Haight (Annette) of Kersey), Joseph H. Haight (Brenda) of Waterford, Dennis L. Haight (Reba) of Hillard, Ohio, and Ray C. Haight (Wendy) of Mercer; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Henry (William) of Buffalo, N.Y., and Olive Welsh (Dale) of Brookville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Valerie Rose Reed and Marvin Haight; four sisters, Edith Knapp, Ethel Mineweiser, Frances Leah Haight, and Wavie Snyder; and four brothers, LeRoy, Robert, Donald, and Dean Haight.
Funeral services for Amer V. Haight will be held in the Maria Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Hart, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Maria Lutheran Cemetery.
Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
