American flags placed in St. Marys' cemeteries

Photo by Becky Polaski Volunteers helped place American flags in markers located adjacent to the graves of deceased members of the armed forces in both the Catholic and Protestant cemeteries on Wednesday evening.

Despite the inclement weather early in the day on Wednesday, members of the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail and volunteers from throughout the community gathered at the Catholic and Protestant cemeteries in the late afternoon to place flags in markers located next to the headstones of deceased members of the armed forces.
Tom Price, Sergeant-in-Charge of the Detail, remarked that postponing the event was never considered and that it would have taken place as scheduled regardless of the weather.
"It was going on because we're pressed for time. We're getting into Memorial Day weekend and we've got all kinds of activities planned for the weekend, so we had to get this done rain or shine," Price said.
